  1. 1. Roles of hematopoietin and cytokine tyrosine kinase receptors in early lymphopoiesis

    Author : Christina Jensen; Stamcellscentrum (SCC); []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IL -7; FLT3 Ligand; cytokines; lymphopoiesis; hematopoiesis; TSLP; apoptosis;

    Abstract : Cytokines have been shown to have important roles in lymphopoiesis. However, many questions remain unresolved. Among other, while the action of interleukin (IL)-7 in alpha beta T cell development in mouse seems to be largely mediated through permissive survival signaling, the possible permissive role of IL-7 in early B cell development is disputed. 2. 2. Domestication effects on foraging behaviour : consequences for adaptability in chickens

    Author : Christina Lindqvist; Per Jensen; Björn Forkman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Etologi; chicken; domestication effects; behaviour; red jungle fowl RJF ; contrafreeloading CFL ; egg production; Ethnology; Etnologi;

    Abstract : The main aim of this thesis was to study domestication effects on foraging behaviour in chickens and to investigate whether and how domestication and selection for high production have influenced adaptability in chickens. Two domestic strains of chickens (egg layers and meat type chickens) and their wild ancestor, the red jungle fowl (RJF) were compared in different test situations with respect to foraging behaviour and adaptability. 3. 3. Nanopatterning by Swift Heavy Ions

    Author : Marek Skupinski; Klas Hjört; Jens Jensen; Christina Trautmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Materials science; swift heavy ions; lithography; nanopatterning; self-assembly; Materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Today, the dominating way of patterning nanosystems is by irradiation-based lithography (e-beam, DUV, EUV, and ions). Compared to the other irradiations, ion tracks created by swift heavy ions in matter give the highest contrast, and its inelastic scattering facilitate minute widening and high aspect ratios (up to several thousands).
