  1. 1. Characterisation of the Clp Proteins in Arabidopsis thaliana

    Author : Bo Zheng; Adrian K. Clarke; Vaughan Hurry; Cecilia Sundby-Emanuelsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant physiology; Arabidopsis; molecular chaperone; protein degradation; protease; Clp Hsp100; ClpP; stress response; antisense repression; chloroplast development; Växtfysiologi; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : Unlike in the greenhouse, plants need to cope with many environmental stresses under natural conditions. Among these conditions are drought, waterlogging, excessive or too little light, high or low temperatures, UV irradiation, high soil salinity, and nutrient deficiency. READ MORE

  2. 2. Inflammatory Reactions in Peritonitis and Malignant Obstructive Jaundice : Clinical and Experimental Studies with Special Emphasis on the Cellular Immune Response

    Author : Johanna Österberg; Ulf Haglund; Mikael Ljungdahl; Roland Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; CLP; sepsis; peritonitis; bacterial translocation; malignant obstructive jaundice; Linomide; COX inhibitor; SC-236; indometacin; T lymphocyte; macrophage; mucosa; MLN; gut immune cell distribution; mucosal injury; cytokines; TNF-α; IL-6; IL-10; endotoxin; caspase-3; apoptosis; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : Patients with peritonitis or malignant obstructive jaundice (HPB+) have an increased morbidity and mortality due to sepsis. An altered cell-mediated immunity in the intestinal mucosa might promote gut barrier failure, increased endotoxin and cytokine release and bacterial translocation (BT) in these conditions. READ MORE

  3. 3. Inconsistencies and missing links in EU chemicals legislation

    Author : Diana Kättström; Marlene Ågerstrand; Steffen Foss Hansen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; REACH; Cosmetic Products Regulation; Biocidal Products Regulation; CLP; new hazard classes; PBT vPvB; EDC; PMT vPvM; endocrine disruptor; Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability; Environmental Sciences; miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : The EU chemicals legislation consists of the Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) and the Regulation on Classification, Labelling, and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP), complemented by over fifty regulations and directives regulating specific uses and products. While regulating individual uses may offer a faster and simpler approach to protecting human health and the environment from hazardous chemicals, it can also lead to inconsistencies, such as gaps and overlaps. Abstract : .... READ MORE

  5. 5. Structural and functional studies of the ATP-dependent Clp proteases in cyanobacteria

    Author : Frida Ståhlberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Växtmolekylärbiologi; Clp Proteaser; Synechococcus elongatus;

    Abstract : Proteins are essential in all living organisms and they are involved in a myriad of biological functions. It is vital for cells to have efficient surveillance and quality control systems that ensure damaged proteins are either repaired to their functional state or quickly removed by degradation. READ MORE
