  1. 1. Radioimmunotherapy in an Immunocompetent Tumor Model utilizing a 177Lu-mAb

    Author : Erika Elgström; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Radioimmunotherapy (RIT) is a therapeutic strategy in which radionuclides are conjugated to monoclonal antibodies that bind to tumor-associated antigens in the tumor, so that the decay of the radionuclide takes place inside the tumor. The aim of the research presented in this thesis was to investigate the effects of RIT (utilizing the radioconjugated antibody 177Lu-BR96) on an inoculated tumor and the development of metastases. 2. 2. Immunotherapy in cancer and HIV

    Author : Susanne Johansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Immunotherapy; Cancer; HIV; DNA-vaccine; Conjugated mAb; NK-cells;

    Abstract : Two major threats to human health are cancer and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. In both cases, a feature of progress of the disease is a defective immune function. Immunological mechanisms have evolved whereby transformed cells and HIV-1 infected cells avoid recognition and elimination by the immune system. READ MORE

  3. 3. On the Use of 76Br-labelled Monoclonal Antibodies for PET : Preclinical Evaluation of Halogenated Antibodies for Diagnosis and Treatment of Cancer

    Author : Johanna Höglund; Katrine Riklund-Åhlström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; bromine-76; positron emission tomography; monoclonal antibodies; cancer; direct and indirect radiohalogenation; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; radiologi; Radiology;

    Abstract : Radioactive substances are used in vivo to localize and characterize malignant tumours, generally by scintigraphic methods. In this context positron emission tomography (PET) in combination with radiolabelled monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) may provide a sensitive and specific method for detection of cancer. READ MORE

  4. 4. HIV-1 reverse transcriptase activity assays based on monoclonal antibodies to native enzyme : Applications on studies of antiviral substances and immunological variation of reverse transcriptase

    Author : Ann-Sofie Rytting; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; HIV-1; reverse transcriptase; monoclonal antibody; activity assay; subtype; RT inhibitor; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Medical Genetics; medicinsk genetik;

    Abstract : Specific detection of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase (RT) activity in crude materials was enhanced using a capture assay for immunopurification and subsequent activity assay. The purification step was achieved by anti-HIV-1 RT monoclonal antibodies (Mabs) immobilized onto a solid carrier. READ MORE

  5. 5. Human cytokeratins : their use as targets in cancer management

    Author : Birgitta Sundström; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Cytokeratins, biochemically related to intermediate filaments (IF), form an intracellular network of filaments which contributes to the mechanical stabilizing of the cell. 19 individual polypeptides, divided into two groups, constitute the cytokeratin family. READ MORE
