  1. 1. Torque based estimation of diesel engine combustion phasing

    Author : Mikael Thor; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Combustion modeling; Diesel engines; Crankshaft torque measurements; Combustion phasing control; Combustion phasing estimation;

    Abstract : Demands on increased efficiency and reduced emission levels introduce new challenges for the design of modern diesel engines. In order to fulfill these demands, diesel engines of today are becoming more and more complex. This escalating complexity not only applies to the engine itself, but also to its control system. 2. 2. Torque based combustion property estimation and control for diesel engines

    Author : Mikael Thor; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Crankshaft torque measurements; Engine control; Combustion modeling; Diesel engines; Closed-loop control; Internal combustion engines; Combustion property estimation; Combustion phasing;

    Abstract : Modern diesel engines are becoming increasingly complex as a result of demands on the reduction of both fuel consumption and emissions. This escalating complexity not only applies to the engine itself, but also to its control system. READ MORE

  3. 3. Crankshaft speed measurements and analysis for control and diagnostics of diesel engines

    Author : Roger Johnsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknisk akustik; Engineering Acoustics;

    Abstract : The increasing demands from governments on the engine manufactures to lower the fuel consumption, lower the exhaust emissions and to reduce the noise have lead to an intensive research in the combustion process. Measurement of the combustion process inside the cylinder is only suitable in laboratory environment due to a number of limitations; the pressure transducer needed to measure the pressure is expensive, difficult to mount in the cylinder and has a limited lifetime that is much shorter than the engine's lifetime. 4. 4. Ion Current and Torque Modeling for Combustion Engine Control

    Author : Ingemar Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Engine control development constantly requires more information about the combustion process, to meet present and future environmental regulations for vehicles. The demand for combustion monitoring and control from enginedevelopers drives the research in several parallel fields of technology to find the best and most cost effective sensor solution for each case.
