  1. 1. Functional studies in yeast of cyclin C and the RNA polymerase II Mediator complex

    Author : Darius Balciunas; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Cyclin C; RNA polymerase II; Mediator; glucose repression; RAS cAMP pathway; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Biochemistry; medicinsk biokemi;

    Abstract : Cyclin C belongs to a group of cyclins that are not cell cycle-regulated. It was first cloned from Drosophila and rat, but its role was not understood until the yeast cyclin C homologue Srb 11 was identified in several genetic screens for transcriptional repressors and subsequently was shown to be associated with the RNA polymerase II Mediator complex. 2. 2. Cyclin E overexpression and associated events in human breast cancer

    Author : Maria Stighall; Malmö Patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; patologisk anatomi; Patologi allmän ; pathological anatomy; General pathology; tumour growth pattern; invasion; proliferation; ID2; cyclin E; pRb; cell cycle; breast cancer;

    Abstract : Unrestrained proliferation is a hallmark of cancer and genetic defects within G1/S-phase regulation and the pRb pathway occur frequently. Proliferation control can be circumvented either by excess cyclin D1 or cyclin E, alterations that can define two alternative tumour biologic pathways in breast cancer. READ MORE

  3. 3. Aspects on Head and neck Cancer with special reference to Salivary Gland Tumours and Single Nucleotide Polymorphism

    Author : Lena Cederblad; Göran Laurell; Gunilla Enblad; Erik Blomquist; Claes Mercke; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : salivary gland carcinoma; adenoid cystic; mucoepidermoid; polymorphous low-grade carinoma; c-myc; cyclin D1; perineural;

    Abstract : A thesis on Head and neck cancer focusing on dose planning, salivary gland carcinoma and Single nucleotide polymorphism.For dose planning PET/CT (Positron emissions tomography/computed tomography) with tracer gave more precise information in comparison dose planning with CT. 4. 4. Molecular Genetic Studies of Sporadic and MEN1-Associated Endocrine Pancreatic Tumors

    Author : Daniel Lindberg; Gunnar Westin; Göran Åkerström; Bo Wängberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Surgery; pancreatic endocrine tumor; MEN1; LOH; WNT7A; HDAC11; CDK4; CDKN2B p15; CDKN1B p27; CDKN2C p18; c-Myc; Smad4; pyrosequencing; epigenetic; methylation; tumor suppressor; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : Pancreatic endocrine tumors (PETs) may cause typical syndromes of hormone excess, or appear clinically non-functioning without hormonal symptoms. PETs occur sporadically, in association with the multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) syndrome, or rarely the von Hippel-Lindau syndrome. READ MORE

  5. 5. Pharmacological and analytical studies of the cyclin dependent kinase inhibitors

    Author : Hatem H A Sallam; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks) play a key role in the regulation of cell cycle progression and RNA transcription. Deregulation of Cdks has been associated with several malignancies, neurodegenerative disorders, viral and protozoal infections, glomerulonephritis and inflammatory diseases. READ MORE
