1. Exploring Typologies, Densities & Spatial Qualities : The Case of Low-Income Housing in South Africa
Abstract : This thesis focuses on problems that have resulted from the increasing pressure facing urban and suburban land use in South Africa, brought on by a number of different factors including the political and historical background of the country, as well as by rapid urbanization. The objective of this thesis is to present the perspectives applied in the analysis of the built environment in selected case studies, in which different theoretical and methodological approaches have been developed to address the research questions. 2. Densities and viscosities of slags : modeling and experimental investigations
Abstract : The present dissertation describes part of the efforts directed towards the development of computational tools to support process modeling. This work is also a further development of the Thermoslag software developed in the Division of Materials Process Science, KTH. READ MORE

3. Bayesian Modeling of Conditional Densities
Abstract : This thesis develops models and associated Bayesian inference methods for flexible univariate and multivariate conditional density estimation. The models are flexible in the sense that they can capture widely differing shapes of the data. The estimation methods are specifically designed to achieve flexibility while still avoiding overfitting. READ MORE

4. On Landmark Densities in Minimum-Uncertainty Motion Planning
Abstract : Accurate self-positioning of autonomous mobile platforms is important when performing tasks such as target tracking, reconnaissance and resupply missions. Without access to an existing positioning infrastructure, such as Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), the platform instead needs to rely on its own sensors to obtain an accurate position estimate. 5. Fuel ion densities and distributions in fusion plasmas : Modeling and analysis for neutron emission spectrometry
Abstract : Neutrons produced in fusion reactions in a magnetically confined plasma carry information about the distributions and densities of the fuel ions in the plasma. This thesis presents work where various theoretical models of different fuel ion distributions in the plasma are used to calculate modeled components of the neutron energy spectrum. READ MORE
