  1. 1. Residual stresses in dental composites

    Author : Philippe Lingois; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial; Polymeric Composite Materials;

    Abstract : In several European countries, dental composites are replacing mercury-containing amalgams as the most common restorative materials. The problems with dental composites are they can induce pain for the patient, fracture of the tooth, gap between the tooth and the filling what will induce secondary caries. The main reason is residual stresses. READ MORE

  2. 2. Clinical aspects of restorative treatment in the primary dentition

    Author : Mirja Varpio; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Child; Child; Preschool; Cohort Studies; Composite Resins; chemistry; DMF Index; Dental Caries; epidemiology; microbiology; pathology; therapy; Dental Cavity Preparation; classification; Dental Enamel; pathology; Dental Restoration; Permanent; statistics numerical data; Follow-Up Studies; Glass Ionomer Cements; chemistry; Humans; Molar; Prevalence; Prosthesis Failure; Recurrence; Sweden; epidemiology; Tooth; Deciduous;

    Abstract : The failure rate of restorative treatment in primary teeth was studied in a cohort of children born in 1981 and related to caries diagnosis, prevalence and distribution on different tooth surfaces, and compared with a cohort of children born in 1971. Concurrently, the longevity of composite resin in modified Class 2 cavities in primary molars was followed up and the resistance of deciduous and permanent enamel to acid adjacent to composite resin and glass polyalkeonate cement (GPA) was tested in vitro. 4. 4. Effect of light power density variation on dental light-cure resin composites

    Author : Nazanin Emami; Luleå tekniska universitet; []

    Abstract : Dental resin based composites are tooth-colored filling materials composed of synthetic resins and particulate ceramic reinforcing filler particles. The resin system also contains molecules that promote and/or modify the polymerisation reaction of the dimethacrylate resin monomers. READ MORE

  5. 5. Variables affecting stress development and resin conversion in light-cured dental composites

    Author : Nazanin Emami; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine Elements; Maskinelement; Polymeric Composite Materials; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial;

    Abstract : The general aim of this dissertation was to identify and investigate factors that can be used to minimize stress development in light cured dental resins without compromising the conversion level of the polymer. Modulus of elasticity, polymerization contraction strain, degree of conversion and shrinkage of light-cure dental composites were determined after curing with three different light power densities where total irradiated energy (J/cm2) kept constant.
