  1. 1. Orthopaedic measurements with computed radiography. Methodological development, accuracy, and radiation dose with special reference to the weight-bearing lower extremity and the dislocating patella

    Author : Jan Sanfridsson; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; digital.; computer-assisted; Picture Archiving and Communication Systems; computed radiography; radiography; effective dose; radiation dosage; measurements; biomechanics; dislocating patella; musculoskeletal; patellofemoral joint; Knee joint; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this study was to develop and evaluate a measurement system for computed radiography (CR) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), permitting measurements of long distances and angles in and between related images. The developed measurement system, which was based on the QUESTOR Precision Radiography (QPR) system, was applied to the weight-bearing knee with special reference to the dislocating patella. 2. 2. Impairment of intra-oral sensation, discrimination ability, and swallowing function following radiotherapy and surgery for oral and pharyngeal cancer

    Author : Ingrid Bodin; Annika Isberg; Eva Levring Jäghagen; Ola Larsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : Medical sciences; Oral cancer; pharyngeal cancer; radiotherapy; surgery; intra-oral sensation; sensibility; swallowing; intra-oral discrimination; deglutition disorders; dysphagia; function; dysfunction; radiography; cineradiography; follow-up; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; diagnostisk radiologi; Diagnostic Radiology;

    Abstract : Oral and pharyngeal cancer is commonly treated with a combination of radiotherapy and surgery. It is a clinical knowledge that patients often experience severe swallowing disorders following treatment. Since surgical sequelae are instantaneous and obvious, little attention has been paid to other concurrent effects of the treatment. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ultrasound based shear wave elastography of the liver : a non-invasive method for evaluation of liver disease

    Author : Marie Byenfeldt; Anders Elvin; Per Fransson; Odd Helge Gilja; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anthropometric measurement; diagnostic imaging; elasticity imaging technique; blood supply; BMI; body position; fatty liver; liver disease; hepatic steatosis; liver fibrosis; liver stiffness; obesity; postural change; pressure; probe; sex characteristic; shear wave elastography; skin-to-liver capsule distance; transducer and ultrasonography; Radiography; radiografi;

    Abstract : Background: Detecting liver disease at an early stage is important, given that early intervention decreases the risk of developing cirrhosis and subsequently hepatocellular cancer (HCC). The non-invasive ultrasound-based shear wave elastography (SWE) has been used clinically for a decade to assess liver stiffness. READ MORE

  4. 4. Quality Aspects of Digital Radiography in General Dental Practice

    Author : Kristina Hellén-Halme; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Digital radiography;

    Abstract : POPULÄRVETENSKAPLIG SAMMANFATTNINGDet övergripande syftet med denna avhandling var att klargöra hur digital röntgenteknik används hos allmäntandläkaren och framför allt har syftet varit att undersöka kvaliteten hos röntgenbilderna och hur den skulle kunna förbättras. I det första arbetet studerades digitala röntgenbilder som var inskickade i samband med förhandsprövningar till Försäkringskassan. READ MORE

  5. 5. Low-dose computed tomography of the abdomen and lumbar spine

    Author : Muhammed Alshamari; Håkan Geijer; Seppo Koskinen; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tomography; X-Ray Computed; Radiography; Radiation Dosage; Abdomen; Spine; Lumbosacral Region; Regression Analysis; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Abstract : Radiography is a common radiologic investigation despite abundant evidence of its limited diagnostic value. On the other hand, computed tomography (CT) has a high diagnostic value and is widely considered to be among the most important advances in medicine. READ MORE
