  1. 1. DNA-dependent protein kinase in human cells

    Author : Annahita Sallmyr; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; enzymology; virology; mycology; mykologi; virologi; Proteiner; enzymologi; bacteriology; Microbiology; Sjögren s syndrome; HL60; PMN; Ku86v; Ku86; DNA-PK; DNA DSBs; NHEJ; Proteins; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi;

    Abstract : DNA-dependent protein kinase (DNA-PK) is a holoenzyme consisting of a regulatory subunit, the heterodimeric Ku70/86, and a catalytic subunit known as DNA-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (DNA-PKcs). DNA-PK takes part in a number of cellular functions including growth control, immunoglobulin gene rearrangement and DNA repair. READ MORE

  2. 2. The Adenovirus L4-33K Protein : A Key Regulator of Virus-specific Alternative Splicing

    Author : Heidi Törmänen Persson; Göran Akusjärvi; Stefan Schwartz; Marie Öhman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; L4-33K; adenovirus; splicing; phosphorylation; localization; replication centers; L4-22K; MLTU; DNA-PK; DNA-dependent protein kinase; PKA; cAMP-dependent protein kinase; transcription sites; SR protein; Medical Virology; Medicinsk virologi;

    Abstract : Adenoviruses have been extensively studied in the field of gene regulation, since their genes are subjected to a tightly controlled temporal expression during the virus lifetime. The early-to-late shift in adenoviral gene expression distinguishes two completely different programs in gene expression. READ MORE

  3. 3. DNA-dependent protein kinase in normal and malignant cells : with special reference to anti-tumour agent sensitivity

    Author : Åsa Holgersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : DNA-PK; lymphoid maturation; lymphocytic leukaemia; radiation sensitivity; drug sensitivity; drug resistance; sensitisation.;

    Abstract : The DNA-dependent protein kinase (DNA-PK) is a DNA double strand break (DSB) repair enzyme, essential for the cellular response to DNA damaging agents. DNA-PK is also of importance for lymphoid development, since it includes two processes, V(D)J recombination and lg switch recombination, during which DSBs are naturally occurring events. READ MORE

  4. 4. Molecular aspects of cellular radiosensitivity in small cell lung carcinoma

    Author : Florin Sirzén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : lung carcinoma; radiosensitivity; DNA double-strand breaks; DNA-dependent protein kinase; cell cycle checkpoints; apoptosis;

    Abstract : To clarify some important molecular aspects of radiosensitivity (RS) in small cell (SCLC) compared with non small cell (NSCLC) lung carcinoma, five studies focusing on DNA damage repair, cell cycle checkpoints and apoptosis were performed. As repair of DNA double-strand breaks (DNA dsb), a critical DNA lesion, may be an important determinant of cellular RS, induction and rejoining of DNA dsb were studied using pulsed field gel electrophoresis in a radiosensitive SCLC line, U-1285 and a radioresistant NSCLC line, U-1810 (paper I). 5. 5. Primary Sjögren's Syndrome: Studies of DNA damage responses and autoantibodies

    Author : Gunnel Henriksson; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; autoantibodies; 18 ; t 14; cell cycle; p53; DNA-PK; DNA-binding protein; hypermutation; Sjögren s syndrome; DNA damage; anti-CD4 antibodies; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Abstract : Primary Sjögren’s syndrome (SS) is a chronic autoimmune disease of unknown etiology. The disease primarily involves lachrymal and salivary glands, leading to dryness of the eyes and mouth, but a wide spectrum of exocrine and non-exocrine disease manifestations may be seen. READ MORE
