  1. 1. Potential New Drugs in Lymphoma

    Author : Maryam Delforoush; Gunilla Enblad; Mattias Berglund; Christina Drott; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; lymphoma; diffuse large B-cell lymphoma; DLBCL; picropodophyllin; PPP; J1; melflufen; prodrug; cancer therapeutics; alkylating agents; b-AP15; proteasome inhibitors; DUB inhibition; UCHL5; USP14;

    Abstract : Lymphomas are malignant tumours arising from cells in the lymphatic system. They are classified as B-cell lymphomas, T-cell lymphomas and Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). Of the B-cell lymphomas, one of the most common is diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). READ MORE

  2. 2. Inhibition of 19S proteasome deubiquitinases as a promising strategy in cancer therapy

    Author : Magdalena Mazurkiewicz; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS) is the main degradation system in the eukaryotic cell and it is involved in the regulation of many crucial cellular pathways; such as signal transduction, proliferation, DNA repair, cell death, and cell cycle regulation. In comparison to cells in healthy tissues, cancer cells proliferate faster and have increased protein synthesis rate; therefore in order to preserve cellular fitness they are more dependent on UPS than normal cells. 3. 3. Identifying Essential Deubiquitinase Interactions and Targeting Protein Ubiquitination in Cancer

    Author : Johannes Gubat; Padraig D´arcy; Stig Linder; Maria Turkina; Per Lindahl; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cancer; Deubiquitinase; b-AP15; Ubiquitin-proteasome system;

    Abstract : Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally and is one of the most pressing health issues today. While significant advances have been made in cancer treatment, drug resistance and toxicity remain formidable obstacles to successful therapy. Thus, there is a need to find novel targets that pave the way for new cancer therapeutics. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studies of the thioredoxin system in redox signaling and oxidative stress

    Author : Belén Espinosa Fernández; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Reactive oxygen species exert reversible posttranslational modifications in proteins containing redox sensitive thiols, thereby affecting several cellular processes and protein functions. Reductive enzyme systems, such as the thioredoxin system, can reverse most of these cysteine modifications. READ MORE
