  1. 1. Non-reflecting Boundary Conditions for Wave Propagation Problems

    Author : Daniel Appelö; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : We consider two aspects of non-reflecting boundaryconditions for wave propagation problems. First we evaluate aproposed Perfectly Matched Layer (PML) method for thesimulation of advective acoustics. It is shown that theproposed PML becomes unstable for a certain combination ofparameters. A stabilizing procedure is proposed andimplemented. READ MORE

  2. 2. Absorbing Layers and Non-Reflecting Boundary Conditions for Wave Propagation Problems

    Author : Daniel Appelö; Prof. Gunilla Kreiss; Eliane Becache; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PML; perfectly matched layer; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Abstract : The presence of wave motion is the defining feature in many fields of application,such as electro-magnetics, seismics, acoustics, aerodynamics,oceanography and optics. In these fields, accurate numerical simulation of wave phenomena is important for the enhanced understanding of basic phenomenon, but also in design and development of various engineering applications. 3. 3. Uncertainty quantification for high frequency waves

    Author : Gabriela Malenova; Olof Runborg; Daniel Appelö; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : We consider high frequency waves satisfying the scalar wave equationwith highly oscillatory initial data. The speed of propagation of the mediumas well as the phase and amplitude of the initial data is assumed to beuncertain, described by a finite number of independent random variables withknown probability distributions. 4. 4. Eigenvalue analysis and convergence acceleration techniques for summation-by-parts approximations

    Author : Andrea Alessandro Ruggiu; Jan Nordström; Per Weinerfelt; Daniel Appelö; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Many physical phenomena can be described mathematically by means of partial differential equations. These mathematical formulations are said to be well-posed if a unique solution, bounded by the given data, exists. READ MORE
