  1. 1. On Degree Variance in Random Graphs

    Author : Jan Hagberg; Ove Frank; Tom A.B. Snijders; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Degree Sequences; Uniform Random Graphs; Bernoulli Graphs; Degree Moments; Degree Statistics; Degree Variance; Gamma Approximation; Centrality Testing; Integer Sequences; Statistics; Statistik;

    Abstract : This thesis is concerned with degree moments and degree variance in random graphs. The degree of vertex i in a graph is the number of edges incident to vertex i.In the first paper, degree moments and functions of degree moments are investigated for three random graph models. 2. 2. Moments of meaning – Towards an assessment of protective and risk factors for existential vulnerability among young women with mental ill-health concerns : A mixed methods project in clinical psychology of religion and existential health

    Author : Christina Lloyd; Valerie DeMarinis; Britt af Klinteberg; Wolfgang Rutz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Clinical population; depression; anxiety; existential anxiety; internalized symptoms; crisis of meaning; inhibition of aggression; identity; meaning-making; emotion regulation; sense of coherence; self-concept; disruption and repair; high affective moments; existential worldview function; ontological security; belonging; loneliness; sacredness; death; Religionspsykologi; Psychology of Religion;

    Abstract : The present sequential mixed-methods project was conducted in the area of clinical psychology of religion and existential health. The central aim of the project was to investigate clinically relevant areas for an assessment of protective and risk factors for existential vulnerability and dysfunctional existential meaning-making in a clinical sample of young women with mental ill-health concerns. 3. 3. Numerical Simulations of Flows around Trains and Buses in Cross Winds

    Author : Hassan Hemida; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; winds; Trains and buses aerodynamics; LES; DES;

    Abstract : When cruising in strong winds, ground vehicles can experience strong aerodynamic forces and moments that may increase drag, reduce their stability, generate noise and induce accidents in the case of strong side winds. However, prevention of the unwanted influences of side winds requires that the flow structures around vehicles are fully understood in both the instantaneous and time-averaged flow. READ MORE

  4. 4. Asymptotic Analysis of Machine Learning Models: Comparison Theorems and Universality

    Author : David Bosch; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CGMT; Machine Learning; convex gaussian min max theorem; Asymptotic; universality;

    Abstract : The study of Machine Learning models in asymptotic regimes, has provided insight into many of the properties of ML models, but seemingly contradicts classical statistical wisdom. To solve this mystery, this thesis focuses on the analysis of models such as the LASSO and Random features regression, when the data points and model parameters grow infinite at constant ratios. 5. 5. On the role of transversus abdominis in trunk motor control

    Author : Martin Eriksson Crommert; Peter Engfeldt; Alf Thorstensson; Maria Ekblom; Birgitta Öberg; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : transversus abdominis; trunk muscles; EMG; intramuscular; IAP; motor control; postural control; spine stability; postural demand; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicin; Medicine;

    Abstract : All trunk muscles are important contributors to spine stability. However, the deepest abdominal muscle, transversus abdominis (TrA), with its characteristically horizontal fibre orientation seems to serve a unique function in trunk motor control. READ MORE
