  1. 1. Intracellular unbound drug concentrations Methodology and application for understanding cellular drug exposure

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : André Mateus; Uppsala universitet.; [2016]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; intracellular unbound drug concentrations; free drug; drug binding; drug transport; drug accumulation; cellular drug response; drug target engagement; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Abstract : Most known drug targets and metabolizing enzymes are located inside cells. Interactions with these proteins are determined by intracellular unbound drug concentrations. Assessing intracellular drug exposure is technically challenging, but essential for predicting pharmacokinetic, pharmacological, and toxicological profiles of new drugs. READ MORE

  2. 2. Pulmonary Drug Absorption In vitro and in vivo investigations of drug absorption across the lung barrier and its relation to drug physicochemical properties

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Ann Tronde; Uppsala universitet.; [2002]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacy; lung; pulmonary; drug delivery; inhalation; drug transport; pharmacokinetics; absorption; bioavailability; drug metabolism; preclinical; rat; in vivo; isolated and perfused lung; Caco-2; nebulization catheter; aerosol; physicochemical; peptide; efflux; FARMACI; PHARMACY; FARMACI; biofarmaci; Biopharmaceutics;

    Abstract : Although, pulmonary drug delivery is a well established means for targeting of drugs to the lungs for the treatment of respiratory diseases as well as for the systemic delivery of volatile anesthetic agents, drug absorption kinetics in the lung have not been subjected to extensive research. The main objective of this thesis was to investigate drug absorption characteristics of the lung barrier, using the isolated and perfused rat lung model and in vivo pharmacokinetic studies in rats. 3. 3. Studies of Retroviral Reverse Transcriptase and Flaviviral Protease Enzymes as Antiviral Drug Targets Applications in Antiviral Drug Discovery & Therapy

    University dissertation from Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis : Uppsala universitet

    Author : Muhammad Junaid; Uppsala universitet.; [2012]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Virus; enzymes; HIV AIDS; retroviral reverse transcriptase; flaviviral protease; NRTIs; proteochemometrics; drug resistance; DEN; JEV; NS2B H -NS3pro; antiviral; drug targets; drug discovery; drug therapy.; Pharmacology; Farmakologi;

    Abstract : Viruses are a major threat to humans due to their unique adaptability, evolvability and  capability to control their hosts as parasites and genetic elements. HIV/AIDS is the third largest cause of death by infectious diseases in the world, and drug resistance due to the viral mutations is still the leading cause of treatment failure. READ MORE

  4. 4. Circumventing drug resistance : Studies exploring the expediency of a total cell kill chemoresistance assay

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Bertil Jonsson; Uppsala universitet.; [1998]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medical sciences; drug resistance; drug resistance assay; clinical correlations; cancer; human; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; klinisk farmakologi; Clinical Pharmacology;

    Abstract : Cellular resistance to anti-cancer drugs is considered to be the major cause of treatment failure in clinical practice. The present studies have therefore focused on ways to circumvent resistance as evaluated by an in vitro chemoresistance assay. READ MORE

  5. 5. Drug Analysis Bioanalytical Method Development and Validation

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Mikaela Malm; Uppsala universitet.; [2008]
