  1. 1. XDSC : Excitonic Dye Solar Cells

    Author : Eva Unger; Gerrit Boschloo; Tom J. Savenije; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hybrid solar cells; energy transfer; dye-sensitized solar cells; TiO2; small-molecular semiconductor; hole-transporting dye; Chemistry with specialization in Physical Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Solar energy is the foremost power source of our planet. Driving photosynthesis on our planet for 3 billion years the energy stored in the form of fossil fuels also originates from the sun. Consumption of fossil fuels to generate energy is accompanied with CO2 emission which affects the earth's climate in a serious manner. READ MORE

  2. 2. Interactions in Dye-sensitized Solar Cells

    Author : Helena Greijer Agrell; Anders Hagfeldt; Gerrit Boschloo; Laurence Peter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; solar cells; photovoltaics; dye-sensitized; mesoporous; nanostructured; Raman scattering; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : The interactions between the molecular constituents in dye-sensitized solar cells were studied with UV-VIS and IR spectroscopy, Raman scattering, conductivity and electron accumulation measurements.From stability studies of the dye, bis(tetrabutylammonium)cis-bis(thiocyanato) bis(2,2’-bipyridine-4-carboxylic acid, 4’-carboxylate) ruthenium(II), in the complete solar cell, the thiocyanate ion ligand was found to be lost from the dye. 3. 3. Characterization of dye-sensitized solar cells : Components for environmentally friendly photovoltaics

    Author : Hanna Ellis; Anders Hagfeldt; Gerrit Boschloo; Erik Johansson; Maria Hahlin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; solar cells; dye-sensitized solar cells; Chemistry with specialization in Physical Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : As fossil fuels, the major source of energy used today, create the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide which causes global warming, alternative energy sources are necessary in the future. There is a need for different types of renewable energy sources such as hydropower, windpower, wave- power and photovoltaics since different parts of the world have different possibilities. Abstract : The dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) is a promising efficient low-cost molecular photovoltaic device. One of the key components in DSCs is the dye, as it is responsible for the capture of sunlight. State-of-the-art DSC devices, based on ruthenium dyes, show record efficiencies of 10-12 %. READ MORE
