1. Hydrodynamic modelling of microbial water quality in drinking water sources
Abstract : The faecal contamination of water sources can cause waterborne disease outbreaks among drinking water consumers. To design drinking water treatment and minimise consumer health risks, knowledge on source water quality is needed. READ MORE

2. Wastewater discharges and microbial variability in a surface water source
Abstract : Planning for drinking-water safety in surface waters includes a systematic assessment of hazards in the catchment, and microbial contamination is considered a major health risk. The aim of this thesis was to identify and characterize microbial hazardous events reported for River Göta älv, Sweden. READ MORE

3. Synthesis and functionalization of ring-fused 2-pyridones : Targeting pili formation in E. coli
Abstract : Bicyclic dihydrothiazolo fused 2-pyridones have been studied as a new class of antibacterial agents, termed pilicides, that target the formation of adhesive bacterial surface organelles (pili) in pathogenic bacteria. Synthetic methods to further functionalize the bicyclic 2-pyridone scaffold have been developed in order to increase water-solubility and thereby facilitate biological evalua-tions. READ MORE

4. Abiotic Stress Tolerance. Metabolic and Physiological Effects of Compatible Solutes and Calmodulin on E. coli and Tobacco
Abstract : In their natural habitats, bacteria and plants can be exposed to abiotic stresses such as drought, high salt concentrations and freezing, which are factors limiting their capacity for growth and proliferation. To withstand environmental stresses, they have evolved specific stress responses. READ MORE

5. Assessment of stormwater and snowmelt quality based on water management priorities and the consequent water quality parameters
Abstract : Stormwater and snowmelt pollution contributes to degradation of quality of the receiving waters. For assessing such impacts, it is effective to focus on specific causes of degradation, as done in this study of the quality of stormwater and snowmelt discharges into the receiving waters serving for supply of raw drinking water and water-based recreation.
