1. Regulation of B cell development by antigen receptors
Abstract : The developmental processes of lymphopoiesis generate mature B lymphocytes from hematopoietic stem cells through increasingly restricted intermediates. Networks of transcription factors regulate these cell fate choices and are composed of both ubiquitously expressed and B lineage-specific factors. READ MORE

2. ELUCIDATING REGULATORY NETWORKS PROMOTING B-CELL DEVELOPMENT
Abstract : B-cells are an essential part of our adaptive immune system. A network of transcription factors together with external signals facilitate the gradual developmental progression from progenitor cells towards the B-cell fate. Several key factors participating in this network have been identified. READ MORE

3. A Study of the Surrogate Light chain
Abstract : This thesis has investigated the importance of the VpreB1 protein in early B cell development. Mice lacking the VpreB1 protein showed normal numbers of peripheral mature B cells. READ MORE

4. The functional anatomy of kappa promoters
Abstract : Immunoglobulin kappa promoters were collected from mice and man. It was shown that they had homology within but not between subgroups, and the promoters were also conserved between species. The octamer element was found in all promoters, but other sequence elements were conserved within the distinct subgroups. READ MORE

5. Studies of penta-decameric binding proteins: AP-4 and CBF-A
Abstract : Each immunoglobulin (Ig) V gene segment contains an upstream promoter region. The octamer element and the TATA box are the only elements that are conserved in all Ig promoters. The presence of the octamer element is necessary, but not sufficient to support high levels of transcription. READ MORE
