  1. 1. Lithium-ion insertion in a V6O13 cathode

    Author : Örjan Bergström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; cathode material; vanadium oxide; lithium insertion; in situ X-ray diffraction; deformation electron density refinement; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : The transition metal oxide V6O13 is a promising cathode material for high-capacity lithium-polymer batteries in conjunction with a lithium-metal anode. The electro-chemical behaviour of V6O13 has its origin in the ability of the vanadium ions to change their-oxidation states, combined with the open nature of its crystal structure which allows lithium ions to diffuse through it. 2. 2. The Challenge of Probing Lithium Insertion Mechanisms in Cathode Materials

    Author : Jonas Höwing; Torbjörn Gustafsson; Christian Masquelier; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inorganic chemistry; Li-ion battery; cathode materials; insertion mechanism; single-crystal X-ray diffraction; vanadium oxide; lithium iron phosphate; Oorganisk kemi; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : The Li-ion battery has, from its commercialisation in the early 1990's, now become the most widely used power source for portable low-power electronics: laptops, cellular phones and MP3-players are a few examples. To further develop existing and find new electrode materials for these batteries, it is vital to understand the lithium insertion/extraction mechanisms taking place during battery operation. 3. 3. Mesoporous Materials for Fast Charging Electrochemical Energy Storage

    Author : Giulio Calcagno; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electrochemical energy storage; redox-active electrolytes; mesoporous carbon; hybrid supercapacitors; fast charging storage; ordered mesoporous materials; mesoporous titanium dioxide; lithium-ion battery;

    Abstract : High performing electrochemical energy storage (EES) devices are needed to cope with the increasing energy requirements of modern society. Electrode materials must store lots of energy, charge/discharge fast and be environmentally friendly. READ MORE

  4. 4. Dynamic and quasi-stationary electrochromic response of amorphous tungsten oxide thin films : In situ combined electrochemical and optical measurements during lithium intercalation

    Author : Edgar Alonso Rojas González; Gunnar Niklasson; Aline Rougier; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electrochromism; Optical absorption; Amorphous materials; Tungsten oxide; Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; Color impedance spectroscopy; Intercalation; Engineering Science with specialization in Solid State Physics; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Abstract : Electrochromic (EC) materials can adjust their optical properties, reversibly, by means of an external electrical stimulus. They have relevant technological applications; for example, energy-efficient smart windows, which can adapt dynamically—according to the given environmental conditions—to control the heat and visible light fluxes between the interior and exterior of a building. 5. 5. Tin-based Glasses: Structure and Electrochemical Properties

    Author : Cecilia Gejke; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Li-ion battery; anode; borate glasses; phosphate glasses; tin; reverse Monte Carlo simulation; Raman spectroscopy; infrared spectroscopy; neutron diffraction;

    Abstract : This thesis presents an investigation of microscopic structure and electrochemical properties, and their relationship, for various tin-based borate, phosphate and borophosphate glasses. Tin-based glasses have attracted a lot of scientific interest as anode materials in Li-ion batteries. READ MORE
