11. Quantitative echocardiographic methods for patients with acute coronary syndrome
Abstract : Background: The aim of this thesis was to evaluate two diagnostic and two prognostic quantitative echocardiographic methods for patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods: Velocity tracking (VeT) presents the longitudinal tissue Doppler velocities of the left ventricle (LV) as a bull’s eye plot giving an easy three dimensional understanding of both the global and regional function of the LV in regard to longitudinal velocities, systolic as well as diastolic. 12. Cardiac Performance, Ventricular-Vascular Interaction and Functional Alterations in Rheumatic Mitral Stenosis : A descriptive study employing novel hemodynamic and echocardiographic modalities
Abstract : The assessment of LV performance poses significant challenges in the setting of rheumatic mitral stenosis (MS) owing to an inherently load-altered state. A detailed characterization of arterial-ventricular coupling between subjects with isolated post-capillary pulmonary hypertension (Ipc-PH) and combined pre- and post-capillary pulmonary hypertension (Cpc-PH) has not been described. 13. The heart in the critically ill patient- an echocardiographic study
Abstract : The thesis describes aspects of left ventricular systolic and diastolic function examined with echocardiography in patients with systemic inflammation and shock. Background: Myocardial depression is a well-known complication in critically ill patients with shock. READ MORE

15. Echocardiographic assessment of ventricular size and function in heart transplant patients
Abstract : AbstractThe overall aims of this thesis were to use echocardiography to non-invasively, delineate early structural andfunctional changes following orthotopic heart transplantation (OHT), and to define reference values in the contextof gender and bridging with mechanical circulatory support.Several factors might affect myocardial function in OHT patients rendering the use of normal values fortransthoracic echocardiography derived from healthy subjects unsatisfactory.
