21. Factors Affecting the Distribution of Rocky-Shore Macroalgae on the Swedish Coast : Morphological, Physiological, Reproductive and Genetic Aspects
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to examine factors affecting the distribution of macroalgal species both vertically (depth zonation) and geographically along the Baltic Sea salinity gradient. Interactions between the physical environment and basic biological traits of the algae are emphasised. READ MORE

22. Understanding ecosystem service bundles and their social-ecological patterns in a Swedish landscape
Abstract : Managing landscapes in a way that ensures sustainable development and the continued production of benefits to a diverse set of people requires an understanding how people use, modify, and depend on their local environment. This thesis uses the concept of ecosystem service bundles to articulate the social-ecological dynamics that define landscapes. READ MORE

23. Plant ecological studies related to restoration of a degraded ecosystem in central Tanzania
Abstract : Kondoa Irangi area is among the most degraded ecosystems in Central Tanzania as a result of heavygrazing, fire, collection of fuelwood and improper cultivation practices. The restoration process of thisdegraded ecosystem through natural regeneration is slowed by the semi-arid climate of the area combinedwith poor soil nutrient status. READ MORE

24. Exploring connections in social-ecological systems : The links between biodiversity, ecosystem services, and human well-being in South Africa
Abstract : A key challenge of the Anthropocene is to advance human development without undermining critical ecosystem services. Central to this challenge is a better understanding of the interactions and feedbacks between biodiversity, ecosystem services and human well-being, which interact in dynamic and complex social-ecological systems. 25. Pharmacoepidemiology of Antibiotics, Weak Opioids and Statins with Special Reference to Socioeconomic Aspects - an Ecological Approach
Abstract : The influence of socioeconomic factors on drug utilisation has been studied by pharmacoepidemiological analyses involving 1) drugs that are used to cure disease, such as antibiotics, 2) drugs that are used to alleviate symptoms, such as weak opioids, and 3) drugs that are used to prevent disease, such as statins. In a large Swedish city (Malmö), the utilisation of four major drug groups (ATC-groups A = alimentation, C = circulation, N = nervous system, and R = respiration) correlated positively with an unfavourable socioeconomic situation, most pronouncedly with group N and least so with group R.
