  1. 1. On the mortality of patients treated with dental implants: Association to age, degree of tooth loss, and treatment modality

    Author : Jan Kowar; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mortality; age; socioeconomic status; edentulous; dental implant;

    Abstract : Rehabilitation of partially or completely edentulous patients with implant-supported prostheses is a common treatment in dentistry. Clinical studies evaluating this type of treatment have largely focused on technical and biolog-ical complications. READ MORE

  2. 2. Conventional spiral and low-dose computed mandibular tomography for dental implant planning

    Author : Annika Ekestubbe; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Artifacts; Dental Implantation; Endosseous; methods; Dental Implants; Humans; Jaw; Edentulous; radiography; Mandible; radiography; Patient Care Planning; Phantoms; Imaging; Radiation Dosage; Radiography; Dental; methods; Reproducibility of Results; Tomography; X-Ray; instrumentation; methods; Tomography; X-Ray Computed; methods;

    Abstract : Absorbed doses to radiosensitive organs in the head and neck from pre-implant conventional hypocycloidal, conventional spiral and computed tomography (CT) were measured with thermoluminescent dosimeters in an anthropomorphic phantom head. From conventional tomography organ doses, except to the major salivary glands, were below 0.2 mGy. READ MORE

  3. 3. On tooth movements and associated tissue alterations related to edentulous areas and bone defects

    Abstract : The aim of the thesis was to study orthodontic tooth movement in relation to edentulous areas and infrabony pockets as well as the physiological movement of teeth facing an edentulous area. A dog model was used in Studies I and II. READ MORE

  4. 4. On dental implant failure and patient-related factors

    Abstract : Dental implants function as anchorage for dental prostheses. In a small number of cases, osseointegration fails to establish or be maintained around the implants, but the reasons for these failures are not yet fully understood. READ MORE

    Abstract : Background: There has been a dramatic increase in commercially available intraoral scanners (IOS) in the last decade, offering to replace indirect digitization of models (MOD) fabricated from impressions (IMPR). IOS has benefits of less patient discomfort and a faster workflow to fabricate fixed dental prosthesis (FDP), and implant-supported prostheses (IFD). READ MORE
