  1. 1. Relay Feedback and Multivariable Control

    Author : Karl Henrik Johansson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; robotics; Automation; Frequency methods; Process control; Sequential control; Automatic tuning; Control education; Laboratory process; Performance limitations; Decentralized control; Multivariable zero; Multivariable systems; Hybrid control; Nonlinear dynamics; Limit cycles; Oscillations; Relay feedback; Sliding modes; control engineering; Automatiska system; robotteknik; reglerteknik;

    Abstract : This doctoral thesis treats three issues in control engineering related to relay feedback and multivariable control systems. Linear systems with relay feedback is the first topic. Such systems are shown to exhibit several interesting behaviors. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ammonium Feedback Control in Wastewater Treatment Plants

    Author : Linda Åmand; Bengt Carlsson; Peter Vanrolleghem; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aeration control; ammonium feedback control; biological nitrogen removal; full-scale experiments; gain scheduling control; PI control; process control; repetitive control; wastewater treatment; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Abstract : The aeration process is often the single largest consumer of electricity in a wastewater treatment plant. Aeration in biological reactors provides microorganisms with oxygen which is required to convert ammonium to nitrate. Ammonium is toxic for aqueous ecosystems and contributes to eutrophication. 3. 3. Geometric Control of Thrust Propelled Systems

    Author : Pedro Miguel Ótão Pereira; Dimos V. Dimarogonas; Jana Tumova; Panagiotis Tsiotras; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nonlinear control; geometric control; thrust propelled systems; slung load transportation; aerial tethered transportation; control of aerial vehicles; tracking and stabilization; global stabilization; bounded control; disturbance removal; distributed control; attitude synchronization; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis was motivated and inspired by the AEROWORKS project, a European research project, whose main goal was to deploy multiple heterogeneous unmanned aerial vehicles in environments where human intervention is restricted.In particular, this thesis focuses on control of aerial vehicles for the purposes of cargo transportation, an application of interest, for example, in inspection and maintenance of aging infrastructures. 4. 4. Control and Estimation of Automotive Powertrains with Backlash

    Author : Adam Lagerberg; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; backlash control; powertrain control; driveability; backlash estimation; model predictive control; optimal control; Automatic control;

    Abstract : In automotive powertrains, backlash causes problems with vehicle driveability, specifically at so called tip-in and tip-out maneuvers. These maneuvers may trigger phenomena known in the automotive industry as shunt and shuffle, which are partially caused by the backlash. READ MORE

  5. 5. Interaction Analysis in Multivariable Control Systems : Applications to Bioreactors for Nitrogen Removal

    Author : Björn Halvarsson; Bengt Carlsson; Elling Jacobsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; activated sludge process; biological nitrogen removal; bioreactor models; control structure design; cost-efficient operation; decentralized control; interaction measures; minimum variance control; multivariable control; wastewater treatment; Automatic control; Reglerteknik; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Abstract : Many control systems of practical importance are multivariable. In such systems, each manipulated variable (input signal) may affect several controlled variables (output signals) causing interaction between the input/output loops. READ MORE
