    Abstract : Issues surrounding relationships between different writings and questions regarding literary dependence are ubiquitous in New Testament scholarship. This study aims to answer questions concerning how one is to understand the way that early Christian writers used other Christian writings: Are any typical characteristics discernible regarding the earliest use of Christian writings? Were they memorized and reproduced literally? Do they appear to have carried much authoritative weight from early on? And when is it advisable to construct hypotheses concerning unknown mediating sources in order to explain some particular literary relationship?In order to answer these questions, this study investigates how cultic concepts and terminology are expressed and utilized in a number of connected early Christian writings: Paul’s letter to the Romans and his First letter to the Corinthians, the letter to the Hebrews, and the letter known as First Clement. 2. 2. Fractal Methods for Greyscale Image Data Compression

    Author : Mirek Novak; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In this thesis fractal methods for image coding of still images are discussed. A specific class of encoding algorithms is introduced, where the algorithms are based on dividing image data into two components. One component is the part of the data which can be represented by a parametric model. READ MORE

  3. 3. Very Low Bitrate Video Communication : A Principal Component Analysis Approach

    Author : Ulrik Söderström; Haibo Li; Luis Torres; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Video compression; Very low bitrate; Principal component analysis; Complexity; Semantically important areas; Wearable video; Other electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Övrig elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik;

    Abstract : A large amount of the information in conversations come from non-verbal cues such as facial expressions and body gesture. These cues are lost when we don't communicate face-to-face. But face-to-face communication doesn't have to happen in person. With video communication we can at least deliver information about the facial mimic and some gestures. READ MORE

  4. 4. That voice sounds familiar : factors in speaker recognition

    Author : Erik J. Eriksson; Kirk P. H. Sullivan; Christopher Darwin; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; speaker recognition; accent; emotions; hearing; spectral moments; formant transitions; dialect; Cognitive science; Kognitionsvetenskap;

    Abstract : Humans have the ability to recognize other humans by voice alone. This is important both socially and for the robustness of speech perception. This Thesis contains a set of eight studies that investigates how different factors impact on speaker recognition and how these factors can help explain how listeners perceive and evaluate speaker identity. Abstract : This dissertation examines three family history research experiences as public pedagogical spaces, analysing the narratives presented and participants’ negotiations with these. In the context of enhanced digitalisation and rapidly developing technologies, disturbances in the form of pandemics, hackers, and wars remind us of the instability of the present, raising existential questions and reinforcing the desire to anchor oneself in the past.
