  2. 12. Lake sediment as environmental archive : natural and anthropogenic influence on the chronology of trace elements

    Author : Evastina Grahn; Stefan Karlsson; Anders Düker; Bo Bergbäck; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lake sediment; environmental pollution; trace elements; chronology; diagenesis; Ag; Be; Ga; In; Pb; Sb; Tl; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Enviromental Science; Miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : The focus of this thesis is the historical pollution of some seldom-monitored trace elements (SMTEs; Ag, Be, Ga, In, Sb and Tl) that have been involuntarily released for several thousands of years but whose usage have increased during the industrial era. Sediment cores from four rural lakes in a south to north transect in central Sweden, and two urban lakes have been used as environmental archives for chronological studies. READ MORE

  3. 13. Conjoint analysis as a tool for communication and corporate environmental decision-making

    Author : Stina Alriksson; Tomas Öberg; Marianne Lindström; Högskolan i Kalmar; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; conjoint analysis; PLS; Cluster analysis; Communication; Environmental; Decision-making; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science;

    Abstract : Conjoint analysis has been used extensively in marketing, transportation and healthcare for the past 50 years. Since the mid-1990s, it has also been applied to an increasing number of environmental issues. In this thesis, conjoint analysis is applied to environmental objectives of the Swedish steel industry. 4. 14. Resource efficient products in a circular economy – The case of consumables. From environmental and resource assessment to design guidelines

    Author : Siri Willskytt; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; product characteristics; circular product design; resource efficiency; LCA; consumable products; ecodesign; design guidelines; circular economy;

    Abstract : The circular economy (CE) is a concept to challenge the unsustainable production, consumption, and waste management of products, through the recirculation of resources and products through various means while reducing environmental impact. Within this concept, many measures are recommended for reducing environmental impact and resource use. READ MORE

  5. 15. Impact of horse-keeping on phosphorus (P) concentrations in soil and water

    Author : Masud Parvage; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Agricultural sources contribute significantly to the high phosphorus (P) loads in water, causing eutrophication in many of Europe’s water bodies. Consequently, priority has been given to reducing P leakage from sources, including soils used for animal farming. READ MORE
