1. Innovation in a Changing World : Exploring PSS Design through Prototyping
Abstract : Customers across all sectors have increasing expectations (e.g. value, efficiency, availability, quality, etc.) and expanding needs which traditional business models fail to address simultaneously and stand-alone products cannot be expected to solve. READ MORE

2. Shaping thought through action : A study of the use and design of technical information
Abstract : This dissertation deals with the design of technical information, such as a user manual for an industrial device, based on the searching and reading behaviour of process operators and maintenance technicians. Such industrial professionals, who use tools like measuring equipment, are sometimes unable to get the support they need from searching and reading in a text- and image-based tool manual in order to perform work tasks. 3. Design and optimization of parallel haptic devices : Design methodology and experimental evaluation
Abstract : The simulation of surgical procedures, in the case of hard tissues such as bone or teeth milling, using a haptic milling surgery simulator requires a haptic device which can provide high stiffness and transparency. To mimic a real milling process of hard tissue, such as for example creating a narrow channel or cavity, the simulator needs to provide force/torque feedback in 5–6 degrees of freedom (DOF). 4. Wireless Multi-Sensor Feedback Systems for SportsPerformance Monitoring : Design and Development
Abstract : Wireless applications have become a common part of daily life. Whether it is mobile phones, the Wi-Fi router at home, the keycard which has replaced the car key, a radio frequency identification access system to a building or a Bluetooth headset for your computer or phone, the means of modern wireless data exchange is an omnipresent technology. 5. Microfluidics for High-Pressure Inertial Focusing : Focusing, Separation and Concentration of Micro and Sub-micron Particles
Abstract : The birth of microsystems set the ground for technologies never imagined before, for it is not only the small size what characterizes the miniaturized systems, but unique phenomena arise in the micro scale. This thesis relates to one such unique phenomenon, inertial focusing, a phenomenon that occurs in microfluidic systems if very special conditions are met and that allows for fine manipulation of particles in fluid samples.
