  1. 1. Eye-movement controlled image coding

    Author : Peter Bergström; Andrew Duchowski; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis proposes eye-movement controlled image coding schemes. An application is found in interactive systems where a human operator controls a vehicle at a distance. Such a system would include an eye-tracker to pick up the point of regard of the viewer. READ MORE

  2. 2. Tracking the Mind's Eye : Eye movements during mental imagery and memory retrieval

    Author : Roger Johansson; Kognitionsvetenskap; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Mental Imagery; Eye Movements; Eye-tracking; Encoding; Recall; Memory Retrieval; Episodic Memory;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the relationship between eye movements, mental imagery and memory retrieval in four studies based on eye-tracking experiments. The first study is an investigation of eye movements during mental imagery elicited both visually and verbally. READ MORE

  3. 3. Biomechanical assessment of head and neck movements in neck pain using 3D movement analysis

    Author : Helena Grip; Gertjan Ettema; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : movement analysis; kinematics; helical axis; neck pain; whiplash; cervical spine; pattern classification; motor control; head-eye co-ordination; head movement; biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap; Biomedical Radiation Science;

    Abstract : Three-dimensional movement analysis was used to evaluate head and neck movement in patients with neck pain and matched controls. The aims were to further develop biomechanical models of head and neck kinematics, to investigate differences between subjects with non-specific neck pain and whiplash associated disorders (WAD), and to evaluate the potential of objective movement analysis as a decision support during diagnosis and follow-up of patients with neck pain. 4. 4. Computational Models of Eye Movements in Reading : A Data-Driven Approach to the Eye-Mind Link

    Author : Mattias Nilsson; Joakim Nivre; John Hale; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computational Linguistics; Datorlingvistik;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates new methods for understanding eye movement behavior in reading based on the use of eye tracking corpora and data-driven modeling. Eye movement behavior is characterized by two basic, generally unconscious, decisions: where and when to move the eyes. READ MORE

  5. 5. From Eye to Mind : Early Visuomotor Performance and Developmental Trajectories in Children Born Preterm

    Author : Ylva Fredriksson Kaul; Lena Hellström-Westas; Claes von Hofsten; Kerstin Rosander; Katarina Strand Brodd; Birgitta Böhm; Audrey van der Meer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Children born very preterm; Visual tracking; Reaching; Neurodevelopment; Predictive control; Attention; Cognition; Psychology; Psykologi; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Abstract : Children born very preterm, at less than 32 weeks of gestation, have an increased risk of developing problems with attention, cognition, perception and motor function. Despite this, the developmental trajectories leading from preterm birth to later impairments are not fully understood. READ MORE
