  1. 1. Strong Correlation Effects in Bosonic and Fermionic Systems Through an Unbiased Quantum Monte Carlo Approach

    Author : Emil Blomquist; Egor Babaev; Johan Carlström; Barbara Capogrosso Sansone; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysik; Physics; Teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Abstract : Strongly interacting many-body quantum systems constitute some of the most challenging problems in physics, and exact analytical solutions are rare. In this thesis, we will investigate the models of two such systems numerically using the unbiased worm-algorithm Monte Carlo method. READ MORE

  2. 2. Statistical Mechanical Studies of Titrating Polyelectrolytes

    Author : Magnus Ullner; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; integral equation theory; variational calculations; Monte Carlo simulations; end-to-end separation; apparent dissociation constant; titrating polyelectrolytes; electrostatic interactions; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Different models and statistical mechanical approximations for titrating polyelectrolytes are studied and the results compared with Monte Carlo simulations and experimental data. Three types of models have been used in the simulations: i) rigid structures and freely jointed chains with ii) rigid bonds and iii) flexible, harmonic bonds. READ MORE

  3. 3. Embedded high-resolution stereo-vision of high frame-rate and low latency through FPGA-acceleration

    Author : Carl Ahlberg; Mikael Ekström; Ignacio Bravo Munoz; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer vision; stereo vision; FPGA; embedded systems; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Autonomous agents rely on information from the surrounding environment to act upon. In the array of sensors available, the image sensor is perhaps the most versatile, allowing for detection of colour, size, shape, and depth. For the latter, in a dynamic environment, assuming no a priori knowledge, stereo vision is a commonly adopted technique. READ MORE

  4. 4. Redesigning Together : Relearning Roles and the Value of Materials in the Overproduction of Fashion

    Author : Amanda Curtis; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : community of practice; do-it-yourself; do-it-together; participatory design; social production; sustainable fashion; value creation; Textil och mode generell ; Textiles and Fashion General ;

    Abstract : What could cause greater upheaval in any system of trade than the consumer becoming the producer? Even though there is a vast amount of information concerning the negative environmental and social impact that the overproduction of fashion contributes to, the industry still manages to attract and make more people into consumers as they are playing on the human need and desire for renewal. The purpose of this study is to learn more about collaborative approaches on a grassroots level that could contribute to reducing the growing mountain of second-hand garments created by this overproduction. 5. 5. Flexible, Efficient, and Scalable Autonomous Exploration and Volumetric Mapping

    Author : Daniel Duberg; Patric Jensfelt; Cesar Cadena; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Exploration; Mapping; Autonomous Exploration; Volumetric Mapping;

    Abstract : Autonomous mobile robots have in recent years started to enter households in the form of autonomous vacuum cleaners and lawn mowers. The applicability of more advanced and general purpose service robots is almost endless. That is, robots that can perform a variety of tasks, instead of being specialized for a single task. READ MORE
