  1. 1. Analysis of PCBs with special emphasis on comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography of atropisomers

    Author : Mikael Harju; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; PCB; Atropisomers; Chiral; GC×GC; Enantiomeric barriers; Seal; polar; shape selective; Cyclodextrin; 2D; ECD; FID; TOF-MS; Comprehensive two-dimensional GC; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Abstract : There are 209 PCB congeners, 136 of which have been found in technical PCB mixtures and hence may be found in the environment as a result of either intentional or unintentional release. The identification and quantification of the congeners are difficult due to analytical bias from coeluting PCBs and other persistent organic pollutants. READ MORE

  2. 2. Emissions from pyrolysis and combustions of solid and liquid fuels investigated using GC/MS and GC/FTIR/FID

    Author : Åsa Ingemarsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; emission; gasoline; RME; diesel; GC FTIR FID; pyrolysis; combustion; GC MS; wood;

  3. 3. Regulation of bile acids by prebiotic food components : Studies in rat caecum and in serum of mice and humans

    Author : Tannaz Ghaffarzadegan; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bile acids; Dietary fibre; Fat; Pectin; Guar gum; Barley; Lingonberry; Turmeric; Short-chain fatty acids; Gut microbiota; Caecum; Serum; Rat; Mice; Humans; GC-FID; UHPLC-MS;

    Abstract : Bile acids (BA) are formed from cholesterol in the liver and, apart from being part of fat digestion, they also act as signalling molecules in several health-related physiological processes. BA composition is regulated by gut microbiota as well as dietary fibre (DF) and fat in the diet. READ MORE

  4. 4. Fast pyrolysis of biomass : primary products and reaction pathways

    Author : David Usino; Tobias Richards; Weihong Yang; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fast pyrolysis; Py-GC-MS FID; Primary reactions; Cellulose; Xylan; Lignin; Birch wood; Co-pyrolysis; Mahogany; Iroko; Palm kernel shell; Biomass blend; Biomass interaction; Pretreatment; Resource Recovery; Resursåtervinning;

    Abstract : Pyrolysis of biomass to produce liquid fuel and chemicals has been considered as an alternativeto fossil fuel because biomass has a lower environmental impact; moreover, it is renewable andcould be sustainable. However, the process of bio-oil production involves a series of complexchemical reactions which are dependent on the biomass feedstock and composition,temperature, heating rate as well as residence time. 5. 5. Automation, hyphenation and multidimensional chromatography for PAH analysis : Analytical techniques to simplify sample complexity

    Author : Hwanmi Lim; Roger Westerholm; Christoffer Bergvall; Stephen Wise; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon; PAH; benzo[a]pyrene; B[a]P; carcinogenicity; cancer risk assessment; complex matrix; automation; hyphenation; multidimensional chromatography; two-dimensional; method translation; online fractionation; benz[j]aceanthrylene; B[j]A; relative potency factor; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : One group of organic environmental pollutants which are potentially hazardous to human health is polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). These compounds consist of two or more benzene rings in their structure among which benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P) is classified as a human carcinogen. READ MORE
