  1. 1. Lipase-Catalysed Lipid Modifications in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide

    Author : Helga Gunnlaugsdottir; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; immobilisation support; enzymes; pressure; phase behaviour; flow rate; process parameters; supercritical carbon dioxide; Lipase; lipids; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Abstract : The production of ethyl esters (EE) from ethanol and cod-liver oil by an immobilised lipase in supercritical carbon dioxide (SCCO2) is described. This reaction results in a complex mixture of lipid components consisting of triglycerides, diglycerides, monoglycerides and ethyl esters. READ MORE

  2. 2. Early immunocastration of male pigs : effects on physiology, performance and behaviour

    Author : Carl Brunius; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of prepubertal or early pubertal vaccination against GnRH using Improvac® (Pfizer Ltd.) on boar taint, reproductive organs, anabolic hormones, cytochrome P450 enzymes, performance and behaviour. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quality of muscle foods : effects of feed and storage time

    Author : Shengjie Li; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate the effects of feed and storage time on meat quality. To study the effect of feed, chicken were fed seven steam-pelleted or nonpelleted rapeseed (RS) diets with different RS inclusion levels (0, 80, 160, and 240 g/kg) for 34 days, and the dietary effects on meat yield, fatty acid composition in meat, and the expression of lipid metabolism-related genes in liver were determined. 4. 4. Nutritive value and use of locally available low-cost feed ingredients for tilapia farming in Tanzania

    Author : Francis Pius Mmanda; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Fish farming has become popular in Tanzania in recent years, resulting in an increase in the number of fishponds. This has caused a corresponding demand for good-quality fish feeds at affordable prices, for sustainable aquaculture production and productivity. READ MORE

  5. 5. Mapping Phenolics Metabolism and Metabolic Engineering of Saccharomyces cerevisiae for Increased Endogenous Catabolism of Phenolic Compounds

    Author : Peter Adeboye; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; toxicity; Keywords: Phenolic compounds; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; conversion; inhibitor;

    Abstract : AbstractSustainable, biotechnological utilization of non-food, plant biomass has been demonstrated to be a viable means of producing energy, fuels, materials and chemicals, representing a paradigm shift from fossil-derived sources. However, the presence of chemicals that inhibit fermentation by microorganisms such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae, commonly used for bioconversion, causes a bottleneck in such processes. READ MORE
