16. Interactions between iron oxides and silicates
Abstract : The main objective of this Licentiate thesis was to acquire a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in the sorption of dissolved silicate from aqueous solutions onto iron oxide surfaces by using Attenuated Total Reflection Fourier Transform Infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy and subsequently to develop a method to monitor the orientation of bentonite platelets settling onto the bare iron oxide using polarized ATR-FTIR technique. The infrared spectra show that the silicate concentration and pH both determine the species of sorbed silicate on the iron oxide surfaces. READ MORE

17. Probing the effects of photodegradation of acceptor materials in polymer solar cells: bulk, surface, and molecular level
Abstract : Polymer solar cells (PSC) have reached record power conversion efficiencies of over 15%. The operational lifetime of PSCs, however, has to increase for their use in large area outdoor applications. READ MORE

18. Synthesis and spectroscopic characterization of emerging synthetic cannabinoids and cathinones
Abstract : The application of different analytical techniques is fundamental in forensic drug analysis. In the wake of the occurrence of large numbers of new psychoactive substances possessing similar chemical structures as already known ones, focus has been placed on applied criteria for their univocal identification. 19. Surface chemical studies on feldspar/quartz system using alkylamines and mixed (cationic/anionic/non-ionic) collectors : adsorption mechanisms and flotation selectivity
Abstract : The mechanism of adsorption of long chain alkyl primary amines and, co-adsorption of amines and alcohols on quartz were studied using FTIR (DRIFT and IRRAS) and XPS spectroscopy methods. The spectroscopy data were correlated with zeta-potential and Hallimond flotation results. READ MORE

20. Flotation of silicate minerals : physico-chemical studies in the presence of alkylamines and mixed (cationic/anionic/non-ionic) collectors
Abstract : The mechanism of adsorption of long chain alkyl primary amines and, co-adsorption of amines and alcohols on silicate minerals (quartz and feldspar) were studied using FTIR (DRIFT and IRRAS) and XPS spectroscopy methods. The spectroscopy data were correlated with zeta-potential and Hallimond flotation results. READ MORE
