  1. 1. Hydro-mechanical forming of aluminium tubes : on constitutive modelling and process design

    Author : Mikael Jansson; Larsgunnar Nilsson; Odd Sture Hopperstad; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydroforming; Aluminium Extrusions; Anisotropic material; Solid mechanics; Fastkroppsmekanik;

    Abstract : Tube hydroforming is a forming method which has several advantages. By using pressure in combination with material feeding it is possible to manufacture products with high structural integration and tight dimensional tolerances. The forming method is especially suited for aluminium alloys which have a relatively low ductility. READ MORE

  2. 2. Frictional Effects on Hertzian Contact and Fracture

    Author : Denis Jelagin; Per-Lennart Larsson; Bertil Storåkers; David Hills; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Contact mechanics; Elastic material; Friction; Nanoindentation; Fracture; Solid mechanics; Fastkroppsmekanik;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses normal axisymmetric contact of dissimilar elastic solids at finite interfacial friction. It is shown that in the case of smooth and convex but otherwise arbitrary contact profiles and monotonically increasing loading a single stick-slip contour evolves being independent of loading and profile geometry. 3. 3. Robust design : Accounting for uncertainties in engineering

    Author : David Lönn; Larsgunnar Nilsson; Niclas Strömberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Robust optimisation; robust design; robustness; meta model; sensitivity analysis; Solid mechanics; Fastkroppsmekanik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns optimization of structures considering various uncertainties. The overall objective is to find methods to create solutions that are optimal both in the sense of handling the typical load case and minimising the variability of the response, i.e. robust optimal designs. 4. 4. Smooth Muscle Modeling : Activation and contraction of contractile units in smooth muscle

  5. 5. On the stability and control of piecewise-smooth dynamical systems with impacts and friction

    Author : Fredrik Svahn; Annika Stensson Trigell; Harry Dankowicz; Jenny Jerrelind; Lawrie Virgin; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; non-smooth dynamics; nonlinear control; low-velocity impacts; friction; bifurcations; Solid mechanics; Fastkroppsmekanik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the analysis of dynamical systems suitable to be modelled by piecewise-smooth differential equations. In such systems the continuous-in-time dynamics is interrupted by discrete-in-time jumps in the state or governing equations of motion. READ MORE
