  1. 1. Search for Gamma-ray Lines from Dark Matter with the Fermi Large Area Telescope

    Author : Tomi Ylinen; Mark Pearce; Jan Conrad; Staffan Carius; James T. Linnemann; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fermi; Large Area Telescope; gamma-rays; dark matter; spectral lines; beam test; Physics; Fysik; Astroparticle physics; Astropartikelfysik;

    Abstract : Dark matter (DM) constitutes one of the most intriguing but so far unresolved issues in physics. In many extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics, the existence of a stable Weakly Interacting Massive Particle (WIMP) is predicted. The WIMP is an excellent DM particle candidate. 2. 2. The Extremes of Neutrino Astronomy : From Fermi Bubbles with IceCube to Ice Studies with ARIANNA

    Author : Elisabeth Unger; Allan Hallgren; Olga Botner; Antonio Capone; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; astroparticle physics; neutrino telescopes; IceCube; Fermi bubbles; ARIANNA; horizontal propagation; surface wave propagation; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics; High Energy Physics; Högenergifysik;

    Abstract : The Fermi bubbles are extended regions of hard gamma-ray emission which were discovered with Fermi-LAT data to exist above and below the Galactic Center. In order to explain the origin of the gamma-rays, different theories are proposed. READ MORE

  3. 3. Electronic Structure and Transport Properties of Carbon Based Materials

    Author : Anders Hansson; Gianaurelio Cuniberti; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular crystals; Organic crystals; Nano technique; Density-Functional Theory DFT ; Fermi; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : In the past decade the interest in molecular electronic devices has escalated. The synthesis of molecular crystals has improved, providing single crystals or thin films with mobility comparable with or even higher than amorphous silicon. Their mechanical flexibility admits new types of applications and usage of electronic devices. READ MORE

  5. 5. Observations of nearby Galaxy Clusters with the Fermi Large Area Telescope : Towards the first Gamma Rays from Clusters

    Author : Stephan Zimmer; Jan Conrad; Lars Bergström; Torsten Enßlin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Galaxy Clusters; Fermi-LAT; γ rays; Dark Matter; Cosmic Rays; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Galaxy clusters are the most massive bound systems known in the Universe and are believed to have formed through large scale structure formation. They host relativistic cosmic-ray (CR) populations and are gravitationally bound by large amounts of Dark Matter (DM), both providing conditions in which high-energy gamma rays may be produced either via CR interactions with the intracluster medium or through the annihilation or decay of DM particles.
