  1. 1. Single-photon multiple ionisation of atoms and molecules investigated by coincidence spectroscopy : Site-specific effects in acetaldehyde and carbon dioxide

    Author : Sergey Zagorodskikh; Raimund Feifel; Vitali Zhaunerchyk; Melanie Mucke; Maria Novella Piancastelli; Tom Field; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; acetaldehyde; carbon dioxide; xenon; electron correlation; double ionisation; triple ionisation; core-valence ionisation; site-specific Auger decay; multiple Auger decay; branching ratios; site-specific photodissociation; molecular rearrangement; time-of-flight multi-electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy; synchrotron radiation; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, multiple ionisation processes of free atoms and molecules upon single photon absorption are studied by means of a versatile multi-electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy method based on a magnetic bottle, primarily in combination with synchrotron radiation. The latter offered the possibility to access not only valence but also core levels, revealing processes, which promote the target systems into different charge states. READ MORE

  2. 2. Moisture Influence on Structural Behaviour of Pavements : Field and Laboratory Investigations

    Author : Farhad Salour; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Guy Doré; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Falling Weight Deflectometer FWD ; backcalculation; unbound material; subgrade; seasonal variation; moisture content; spring-thaw; drainage; pavement stiffness; field test; pavement instrumentation; resilient modulus; permanent deformation; repeated load triaxial test; unsaturated soil; matric suction.; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap; Transportvetenskap; Transport Science;

    Abstract : The structural behaviour of pavements in cold regions can considerably be affected by seasonal variation in environmental factors such as temperature and moisture content. Along with the destructive effect of heavy traffic loads, climatic and environmental factors can considerably contribute to pavement deterioration. READ MORE

  3. 3. Solid Waste Landfills in an Arid Environment : Site Selection and Design

    Author : Ali Chabuk; Jan Laue; Nadhir Al-Ansari; Sven Knutsson; Hussain M. Hussain; Roland Pusch; Rafid Alkhaddar; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Landfill; Arid Environment; Site selection; Design; Babylon; Iraq; Soil Mechanics; Geoteknik;

    Abstract : Selecting landfill sites is considered a complicated task because its whole process is based upon several factors and restrictions. This study shows the present status of solid waste management, sources, collection personnel, machinery and equipment that are involved in the waste collection process, financing and financial management for the major cities of the Babylon Governorate in Iraq (Al-Hillah, Al-Qasim, Al-Mahawil, Al-Hashimiyah and Al-Musayiab). 4. 4. Out of Site : Landscape and Cultural Reflexivity in New Hollywood Cinema 1969-1974

    Author : Henrik Gustafsson; Astrid Söderbergh Widding; Asbjørn Grønstad; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; cultural identity; film analysis; film and nation; genre revisionism; intermediality; landscape in art; landscape in cinema; New Hollywood; new realism; nostalgia film; reflexivity; road movies; Film; Filmvetenskap; Cinema Studies; filmvetenskap;

    Abstract : This dissertation examines landscape as a concept for analysis and interpretation in film studies by considering the New Hollywood cinema in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Contextualized within the contested notion of nationhood at the time as well as the concern among filmmakers to probe the properties, practices and traditions of American cinema, this was also a period when landscape underwent widespread redefinition as a field of artistic and academic practice. 5. 5. On the Application of Surface Wave Surveys for Seismic Site Response Evaluation

    Author : Edwin Obando; Teknisk geologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Surface wave; MASW; seismic site response; ground motion; seismic transfer functions; shear wave velocity; site amplification; walk-away; near-field effect; dispersion curve.;

    Abstract : In sites where earthquakes occur, the use of surface wave methods represents a convenient and effective procedure for soil characterization. In particular, Multichannel Analysis of Surface Wave (MASW) has become a popular tool in many seismic micro-zoning projects. READ MORE
