2. Carbon and nitrogen dynamics in agricultural soils : model applications at different scales in time and space
Abstract : An understanding of soil organic carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) dynamics is essential for efficient and environmentally sustainable agricultural production. This thesis includes model studies of C mineralization at regional/national level with annual time steps, N balances at field level with annual time steps, and N dynamics at 34 locations within a single field with daily time steps. 4. X-ray computed tomography to study moisture distribution in wood
Abstract : X-ray computed tomography (CT) has been used as an analysing tool for different features in wood research since the beginning of the1980s, but it can also be used to study wood-water interactions in different ways, such as by determining wood moisture content (MC). The determination of wood MC with CT requires two CT images: one at the unknown moisture distribution and a second one at a known reference MC level, usually at oven-dry condition. READ MORE

5. Community involvement & ecomuseums : towards a mutual approach to ecomuseology and landscape studies
Abstract : Ecomuseums are museums for, by, and about people at home in their own environment (Keyes, 1992). Since their establishment in 1971, community involvement has been a defining characteristic of ecomuseums. Such community involvement does not just preserve artefacts, but also protects and creates its own physical environment in the form of landscape. READ MORE
