  1. 1. Preparation and performance of energy storage materials and application for recovery of industrial waste heat

    Author : Weilong Wang; Jinyue Yan; Fredrik Setterwall; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Phase change materials; Polyethylene glycol; Silicon dioxide; Form-stable; Thermal conductivity; Expanded graphite; Industrial heat; M-TES; ; Chemical energy engineering; Kemisk energiteknik;

    Abstract : Due to the rapid increase of energy consumption and the environmental concerns on climate change caused by the fossil fuel combustion, it becomes a big issue on how to use alternative renewable energy resources to replace fossil fuel and to improve energy utilization efficiency. In Sweden, there are plenty of detached buildings without connection with district heating (DH) network, which use oil to supply the hot water for space heating and tap water. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mechanism of Metabolite transfer between Enzymes in Glycolysis and Connected Pathways

    Author : Wilma Martinez Arias; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Channelling; Free-diffusion; Glycolytic pathway; Dehydrogenases; Enzyme kinetics; Biochemistry; Metabolite transfer mechanism.; Biokemi; Metabolism;

    Abstract : The metabolite produced by one enzyme in a metabolic pathway can be transferred to the next enzyme in the pathway by free diffusion via solution or by channelling in an enzyme-enzyme complex without prior release of the metabolite to solution. While metabolite channelling is known to occur in systems where stable multienzyme complexes form, conflicting views have been expressed as to its existence in pathways involving "soluble" enzymes. 3. 3. Cell-penetrating peptides for oligonucleotide delivery : Design and uptake mechanisms

    Author : Staffan Lindberg; Ülo Langel; Arwyn Jones; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell-penetrating peptides; gene therapy; scavenger receptors; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Abstract : The use of oligonucleotides for gene therapy has the potential to efficiently treat a plethora of diseases with minimal side effects. However, the use of oligonucleotides is hampered by the properties of these molecules, which make it essentially impossible for them to permeate the cellular membrane. READ MORE

  4. 4. Summation-by-parts formulations for flow problems

    Author : Fredrik Laurén; Jan Nordström; Andrew Ross Winters; Martin Kronbichler; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Many problems in engineering and physics can be described by partial differential equations (PDEs). Augmented with proper initial and boundary conditions, the PDE forms an initial-boundary value problem (IBVP). An IBVP is said to be well-posed if a unique solution bounded by the given data exists. 5. 5. Functional characterization of a phage integrase and its possible use in gene therapy

    Author : Clara Frumerie; Elisabeth Haggård-Ljungquist; Lars Sundström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Abstract : Bacteriophage P2 infecting Escherichia coli can integrate into the bacterial chromosome by site-specific recombination, which is catalyzed by the P2 Int recombinase. The recombination event takes place between the phage attachment site, attP, and the bacterial attachment site, attB. READ MORE
