  1. 1. Constitutive Behaviour and Fracture of Adhesive Layers : Inverse Methods and Energetic Balance

    Author : Svante Alfredsson; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; adhesive layer; constitutive behaviour; fracture; energy release rate; shear fracture; mode-mixity; experimental method; inverse solution; multi-material joints; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Teknik; Technology;

    Abstract : In the automobile industry, current demands on reduced emissions with maintained or even increased crash worthiness, forces the industry to seek weight-reducing designs. The possibility to use lightweight materials is obviously attractive. At joints, these lightweight materials have to be connected to high-strength or low-cost materials. READ MORE

  2. 2. In-Plane Fracture of Paper

    Author : Johan Tryding; Institutionen för byggvetenskaper; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Byggnadsteknik; Building construction; Paper; Fracture energy; Strain softening; Localized damage; Fracture mechanics;

    Abstract : The in-plane failure of paper is studied in this work by means of a cohesive crack model from experimental as well as theoretical perspectives. Localized damage at in-plane tension of short paper strips is studied for low strain rates. READ MORE

  3. 3. Heterogeneous Bonded Particle Modelling of Rock Fracture

    Author : Albin Wessling; Jörgen Kajberg; Simon Larsson; Pär Jonsén; Timo Saksala; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rock; DEM; BPM; fracture; drilling; dynamic; Solid Mechanics; Hållfasthetslära;

    Abstract : The dynamic fracture process of rock materials is of importance for several industries, such as the rock drilling process in geothermal and mining applications. Gaining knowledge and understanding of dynamic rock fracture through numerical simulations can enhance the rock drilling process, for example by optimising the drill bit geometry and drilling parameters. 4. 4. On the treatment of tibial fractures using the Ilizarov fixator

    Author : Telmo Oliveira Ramos; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tibial fracture; external fixation; load; EQ-5D; NHP; VAS; intramedullary nail; gait analysis; randomised study;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to analyse the results of the Ilizarov method in patients with different types of tibial fracture and compare them with conventional methods, in terms of primary union, complication rates, post-operative function, quality of life, and how the patients´ gait was affected during rehabilitation. Fifty-eight patients with isolated diaphyseal fractures (Study I) were randomised to treatment with either the Ilizarov method (IL) or locked intramedullary nailing (IM). READ MORE

  5. 5. Exercise in Youth and Long-Term Effects on Bone and Joints

    Author : Magnus Tveit; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; arthroplasty; BMD; bone mass; bone geometry; bone size; exercise; former athletes; fracture; fragility fracture; knee injury; osteoarthritis; osteoporosis; hip injury; runners; soccer; total joint replacement;

    Abstract : Partly due to an ageing population, the number of osteoporosis-related fractures and osteoarthritis (OA)-related hip and knee arthroplasty procedures is increasing. The individual suffering and the burden on society for these conditions is immense. READ MORE
