  1. 1. C2- and C3-symmetric ligands via ring-opening of aziridines

    Author : Fredrik Lake; KTH; []
    Keywords : asymmetric catalysis; aziridine; benzaldehyde; diethylzinc; enantionselective; ligand; proazaphosphatrane; ring-opening; sulfonamide; symmetry; titanium; nicronium;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the design and synthesis of chiralenantiopure nitrogencontaining ligands and the use of theseligands in asymmetric catalysis. A modular synthetic approachto enantiopure nitrogen-containing ligands was developed. Thesynthetic method is based on the ring-opening of activatedchiral aziridines by nitrogen nucleophiles. 2. 2. Sustainable development and tourism in a biosphere reserve : A case study of Lake Vänern Archipelago Biosphere Reserve, Sweden

    Author : Fredrik Hoppstadius; Margareta Dahlström; Cecilia Möller; Jarkko Saarinen; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Sustainable Development; Sustainable Tourism; Biosphere Reserves; Place; Landscape; Kulturgeografi; Human Geography;

    Abstract : In this thesis I analyse sustainable development by researching tourism in a biosphere reserve. Sustainable development is based on a broad range of environmental, economic and social elements, bound together by the fact that development is limited by boundaries in the environment. READ MORE

  3. 3. Characterization of suspended particulate matter from freshwater : validation of a field filtration technique

    Author : Fredrik Ödman; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Abstract : A field filtration method for the concentration and separation of suspended particulate matter (SPM) from freshwater systems and the subsequent determination of major, minor, trace and ultra trace elements (Al, As, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cs, Cu, Fe, Ga, Hf, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Nb, Ni, P, Pb, Rb, S, Sb, Sc, Si, Sn, Sr, Ta, Th, Ti, Tl, U, V, W, Zn and Zr) is validated with respect to detection limits, precision, and bias. The validation comprises the whole procedure including filtration, sample digestion and instrumental analysis. READ MORE

  4. 4. Wildfire influences on stream water geochemistry in a boreal catchment

    Author : Fredrik Nordblad; Hjalmar Laudon; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Abstract : Forest wildfires are important for the structure and functioning of boreal ecosystems including biogeochemical processes. During the last decades, natural forest fires have been successfully suppressed in Fennoscandia. Therefore, our knowledge on the biogeochemical effects of forest fires is limited. READ MORE

  5. 5. Paleolimnological reconstructions of fish population changes in acidified lakes

    Author : Fredrik Palm; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Acidification; Chaoborus; C. flavicans; C. obscuripes; Cyprinids; Daphnia; Fish loss; Fish community composition; Ephippia; Fragmentation; Mandibles; Perch; Roach; Sediments; 210-Pb chronology;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the potential of using subfossil Chaoborus spp. and Daphnia spp. remains preserved in lake sediments to reveal past fish community alterations related to progressive acidification. READ MORE
