    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Wildfire; Remote Sensing; Active Fire Detection; Burned Area Mapping; Burn Severity Assessment; Sentinel-2; Landsat; Sentinel-1; Deep Learning; Semantic Segmentation; Image Translation; Skogsbrand; fjärranalys; aktiv branddetektering; kartläggning av bränt område; bedömning av brännskador; Sentinel-2; Landsat; Sentinel-1; djupinlärning; semantisk segmentering; bildöversättning.; Geoinformatik; Geoinformatics;

    Abstract : Earth Observation (EO) satellites have great potential in wildfire detection and assessment at fine spatial, temporal, and spectral resolutions. For a long time, satellite data have been employed to systematically monitor wildfire dynamics and assess wildfire impacts, including (i) to detect the location of actively burning spots, (ii) to map the spatial extent of the burn scars, (iii) to assess the wildfire damage levels. 3. 3. Drug Delivery to the Brain by Liposomes : Understanding Factors Governing Delivery Outcomes In Vivo

    Author : Yang Hu; Margareta Hammarlund-Udenaes; Teresa Dalla Costa; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nanocarrier; liposome; blood-brain barrier; brain delivery; formulation; methotrexate; diphenhydramine; microdialysis; pharmacokinetics; model-based approach; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmakokinetik och läkemedelsterapi; Pharmacokinetics and Drug Therapy;

    Abstract : The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is the primary obstacle for efficient drug delivery to the central nervous system (CNS). One promising strategy to enhance brain delivery is to utilize nanocarriers (NC), e.g., liposomes, encapsulating CNS drugs. READ MORE

  4. 4. Multidimensional engineering for the production of fatty acid derivatives in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Author : Yating Hu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; protein engineering; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; fatty acid derivatives; metabolic engineering; tolerance; transporter;

    Abstract : Saccharomyces cerevisiae , also known as budding yeast, has been important for human society since ancient time due to its use during bread making and beer brewing, but it has also made important contribution to scientific studies as model eukaryote. The ease of genetic modification and the robustness and tolerance towards harsh conditions have established yeast as one of the most popular chassis in industrial-scale production of various compounds. 5. 5. Ab initio prediction of the mechanical properties of alloys

    Author : Guisheng Wang; Levente Vitos; Qing-Miao Hu; Douglas Irving; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Industriell ekonomi och organisation; Industrial Engineering and Management;

    Abstract : At the time of the 50th anniversary of the Kohn-Sham method, ab initio calculations based on density functional theory have formed an accurate, efficient, and reliable method to work on the properties of engineering materials. In this thesis, we use the exact muffin-tin orbitals method combined with the coherent-potential approximation to study the mechanical properties of high-technology materials. READ MORE
