  1. 1. Self Assembly at the Liquid Air Interface

    Author : Niga Petru; Rutland Mark; Ye Shen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; VSFS; SFG; interface; crown ethers; ethylene oxides; ionic liquids; fatty acids; domains.; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Abstract : The aim of this work is to study the interfacial properties of amphiphilic compounds at the liquid–air interface in an attempt to develop a comprehensive understanding of their orientation as well as the influence of their interaction with the solvent on the interfacial layer properties. Using Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy (VSFS) as the main tool, the molecular structure of the amphiphilic layer and the amphiphile–solvent relation can be illuminated in great detail – it is arguably the most sensitive surface spectroscopy currently available. Abstract : Aquatic ecosystems play a substantial role in global cycling of carbon (C), despite covering only about 4% of the earth surface. They emit large amounts of greenhouse gases (GHG) to the atmosphere, comparable to the amount of C stored annually in terrestrial ecosystems. In addition, C can be buried in lake sediments. Abstract : The research on new materials is a primary driving force for progress in human society. One of the most significant research topic nowadays is the development of new functional materials for technological applications, like perovskite implemented in solar cells, and graphene as a representative for the new 2D materials family. 5. 5. Transport in Oxides Studied by Gas Phase Analysis

    Author : Qian Dong; Gunnar Hultquist; W.J. Quadakkers; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gas Phase Analysis; metal; oxide; platinum; vitreous silica; yttria stabilized zirconia; diatomic gas; oxidation; dissociation; permeation; uptake release.; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The transport in oxides is studied by the use of gas phase analysis (GPA). An experimental method to identify transported species of gases and their contribution to the overall transport of gases in oxides and an experimental method to evaluate the parameters diffusivity, concentration, permeability of gases in oxides and effective pore size in oxides are developed, respectively.
