  1. 1. Fundamental Investigations of Adsorption in SFC

    Author : Emelie Glenne; Torgny Fornstedt; Jörgen Samuelsson; Caroline West; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Supercritical fluid chromatography; SFC; Adsorption isotherm; Excess adsorption isotherm; Solvent adsorption; Peak distortion; Solute retention; Overloaded peaks; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : In supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC), the eluent is composed by carbon dioxide, often with additional components, in a condition between gas and liquid. This thesis aims to reach a deeper understanding of SFC by revealing the function of the additional eluent components through systematic adsorption studies. READ MORE

  2. 2. Gas Adsorption and Permeation in MFI Zeolites and Membranes

    Author : Sang Wirawan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; composite membranes; TPD; MFI zeolites; WGS membrane reactor; adsorption; FTIR spectra;

    Abstract : The single and multi component gas adsorption behavior on silicalite-1 and cation exchanged MZSM-5 zeolites (M = H, Na, and Ba) were investigated by a step change response method. Temperature programmed desorption (TPD) and in-situ fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy were also performed to study the type of adsorbed species and their thermal stabilities. READ MORE

  3. 3. Molecular overlayers on homogeneous and heterogeneous metal surfaces studied by core-level photoemission

    Author : Maria Smedh; Fysiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; photoelectron spectroscopy; core-level photoemission; electron energy loss spectroscopy; single crystal surfaces; metal surfaces; heterogeneous surfaces; adsorption; adsorbed molecules; hydrocarbons; molecular vibrations; carbon monoxide; adsorption sites; adsorption energy; diffusion; dissociation; Physics; Fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2001:Smedh;

    Abstract : The main topic of this thesis is the investigation of small molecules adsorbed on metal surfaces by means of core-level photoemission spectroscopy. The thesis consists of three parts; The first group of papers concerns the effects of internal molecular vibrations on the core-level photoemission spectra. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studies of inorganic crystal structures and gas adsorption process in mesoporous crystals : New approach through analysis of electron charge distribution by synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction

    Author : Norihiro Muroyama; Osamu Terasaki; Clément Sanchez; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : XRD; Mesoporous; Gas adsorption; Laves Phase; MEM; strukturkemi; Structural Chemistry;

    Abstract : Using synchrotron powder XRD experiments, I studied (i) structures of silica mesoporous MCM-41 and MCM-48 crystals, (ii) gas adsorption processes of Ar and N2 in the mesopores of the mesoporous crystals, and (iii) bonding features of CaAl2-xZnx crystals through the analysis of electron charge density distributions. In the case of mesoporous crystals, the following two different approaches were taken depending on the number of observed X-ray reflections1. READ MORE

    Author : Michelle Åhlén; Ocean Cheung; Maria Strömme; Jonas Lindh; Christel Bergström; Carlos Grande; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; metal-organic frameworks; zeolitic imidazolate frameworks; mesoporous magnesium carbonate; greenhouse gas capture; adsorption; adsorption kinetics; additive manufacturing; selective laser sintering; personalized medicines; Engineering Science with specialization in Nanotechnology and Functional Materials; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot nanoteknologi och funktionella material;

    Abstract : The rising levels of greenhouse gas emissions from vehicular and industrial pollution constitute a serious concern not only for the environment but for our entire society. Traditional gas capture and separation techniques, such as amine scrubbing for CO2 gas separation, have been commonly used at a commercial scale, however issues relating to high costs and high energy requirements for sorbent regeneration have limited the efficiency of many of these techniques.
