1. CO2 separation using ionic liquid-based absorbents : thermodynamics and kinetics
Abstract : Ionic liquids (ILs) have shown great potential to be used as absorbents for CO2 separation owing to their unique properties such as immeasurably low vapour pressure, high thermal stability, high CO2 affinity, and tunable structure. A huge amount of researches have been carried out, and most of them focused on developing novel ILs for CO2 separation. READ MORE

2. Gas-Phase Protein Structure Under the Computational Microscope : Hydration, Titration, and Temperature
Abstract : Although the native environment of the vast majority of proteins is a complex aqueous solution, like the interior of a cell, many analysis methods for assessing chemical and physical properties of biomolecules require the sample to be aerosolized; that is, transferred to the gas-phase. An important example is electrospray-ionization mass spectrometry, which can provide a wide range of information about e. READ MORE

3. Silicon carbide field-effect devices studied as gas sensors for exhaust gas monitoring
Abstract : Metal-insulator-silicon carbide (MIS) structures have been studied as gas sensors. We have investigated how the sensors detect gases, how fast they do that, and how they could be used for exhaust gas monitoring. We have prepared simple field-effect devices, MIS-capacitors and Schottky diodes, on silicon carbide with platinum gates. 4. Investigations of the Kinetics of Reduction and Reduction/Carburization of NiO-WO3 Precursors
Abstract : Kinetic studies of reduction of the mixtures of NiO and WO3 having different Ni/(Ni+W) molar ratios in flowing hydrogen gas were investigated by means of Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Fluidized Bed (FB) technique as well as Thermal diffusivity measurements under isothermal conditions. In the case of TGA, the reaction progress was monitored by mass loss, while evolved gas analysis by a gas chromatograph was the indicator of the reaction progress in the case of FB. READ MORE

5. Char conversion kinetics and aerosol characterization in biomass gasification
Abstract : Biomass gasification is a thermochemical conversion by partial oxidation at elevated temperature of solid biomass into a gaseous energy carrier. The product gas contains the major components CO, H2, CO2, CH4, as well as some tar and inorganic impurities and solid particles such as ash, bed material, soot and char. READ MORE
