  1. 6. Protein Folding and DNA Origami

    Author : Mark Marvin Seibert; David van der Spoel; Helmut Grubmüller; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein folding; Molecular Dynamics simulations; DNA origami; Biophysics; Biofysik; Physics with specialization in Biophysics; Fysik med inriktning mot biofysik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the folding process of the de novo designed polypeptide chignolin was elucidated through atomic-scale Molecular Dynamics (MD) computer simulations. In a series of long timescale and replica exchange MD simulations, chignolin’s folding and unfolding was observed numerous times and the native state was identified from the computed Gibbs free-energy landscape. 2. 7. Time-dependent molecular properties in the optical and x-ray regions

    Author : Ulf Ekström; Patrick Norman; Knut Faegri; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum chemistry; molecular physics; x-ray spectroscopy; relativity; Computational physics; Beräkningsfysik;

    Abstract : Time-dependent molecular properties are important for the experimental characterization of molecular materials. We show how these properties can be calculated, for optical and x-ray frequencies, using novel quantum chemical methods. READ MORE

  3. 8. Carbon Monoxide in Catalytic Hydrogenations: A Poison or a Promoter?

    Author : Ulf Schröder; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The hydrogenation of a,b-unsaturated aldehydes was studied over a platinum catalyst. It was shown that the catalyst was rapidly deactivated by CO formed by decarbonylation of the aldehyde. This deactivation was suppressed by the addition of small amounts of oxygen to the feed, since CO was oxidized to CO2 in the presence of oxygen. READ MORE

  4. 9. Methanation of biosyngas in a fluidized bed reactor

    Author : Martin Seemann; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENERGY TECHNOLOGY; REGENERATIVE ENERGIES; GASIFICATION OF WOOD; FLUIDIZED BED PROCESSES; CHEMICAL ENGINEERING; FUEL TECHNOLOGY; ALTERNATIVE ENERGIES; METHANATION OF HYDROGEN-CARBONMONOXIDE MIXTURES; SYNTHETIC FUELS; NATURAL GAS; BIOGASES;

    Abstract : Rising prices for fossil fuels and concerns over the climate change increase the interest in renewable energies. Synthetic natural gas (SNG) can be an option, filling the request for alternatives in the transportation sector, where the dependence on the oil is very strong. READ MORE

  5. 10. Lean NOx reduction over supported silver catalysts with methanol as reductant - Influence of silver loading, support material, hydrogen addition and C/N molar ratio

    Author : Marika Männikkö; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hydrogen; silver loading; C N molar ratio; HC-SCR; lean NOx reduction; methanol; silver; alumina; ZSM-5;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to find catalysts which show high activity and selectivity forlean NOx reduction in the low-temperature regime relevant for diesel and lean-burnengines and to investigate methanol as reducing agent. The lean NOx reduction oversupported silver catalysts is studied, focusing on the influence of the support material,silver loading, addition of hydrogen and the C/N molar ratio. READ MORE
