  1. 16. Regulation of digestive organ. An experimental study on the role of CCK, Bile and EGF

    Author : Bodil Ohlsson; Internmedicin - epidemiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; trophic effects; total parenteral nutrition; salivary glands; pancreaticobiliary diversion; pancreas; liver; intestinal mucosa; epidermal growth factor; cholecystokinin; biliodigestive shunt; Bile; bilary tract; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; Gastro-enterology; Gastroenterologi;

    Abstract : Cholecystokinin (CCK) is known to exert secretory and trophic effects on the pancreas. Its release from the intestinal mucosa is regulated by pancresic proteases in the small intestine. However, knowledge about the type of responding exocrine cells and the time course of events during stimulation with CCK is lacking. READ MORE

  2. 17. Digestion and absorption of galactolipids

    Author : Lena Ohlsson; Lund Medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gastro-enterology; Pancreatic lipase related proteins.; Pancreatic lipase; Monogalactosyldiglyceride; Lipolytic enzymes; Galactolipids; Essential fatty acids; Digestion; Digalactosyldiglyceride; Colipase; Chylomicron; Bile salt stimulated lipase; Carboxyl ester lipase; Gastroenterologi; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi; Lipids; steroids; membranes; Lipider; steroider; mebran;

    Abstract : Galactolipids: digalactosyldiglyceride (DGalDG), monogalactosyldiglyceride (MGalDG) and sulfoquinovosyldiglyceride (SQDG) are the major lipid components in thylakoid membranes of chloroplasts i.e. the site of photosynthesis in plants. READ MORE

  3. 18. Effects of Probiotics and Plant Components on Murine Experimental Colitis and Acute Liver Failure

    Author : Nadia Osman; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mykologi; virologi; bakteriologi; Mikrobiologi; mycology; bacteriology; virology; Rose hip; Microbiology; Probiotics; Prebiotics; Liver injury; Blueberry; Gastro-enterology; Colitis; Gastroenterologi; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Abstract : Acute liver failure is accompanied by a high rate of bacterial septic complications. High portal level of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) can lead to a pronounced secretion by Kupffer cells of pro-inflammatory mediators which have been shown to be early and important mediators of liver injury. 4. 19. Nitric Oxide Synthase in Pancreatic Islets During Trauma and Parenteral Feeding

    Author : Saleem Qader; Islet cell physiology; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi; Gastroenterologi; Gastro-enterology; Pancreatitis; Ghrelin; TPN; cNOS; iNOS; PACAP; VIP; cAMP; Pancreatic islets; Insulin secretion;

    Abstract : The influence of trauma (acute pancreatitis) or total parenteral nutrition (TPN) on pancreatic islet hormone secretion in relation to islet expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) was investigated. Acute pancreatitis resulted in an impaired glucose-stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS) which was found to be parallelled by a marked expression of iNOS and an exaggerated NO production in the pancreatic islets. 5. 20. Helicobacter pylori and its Association with Gastric and Oesophageal Carcinomas

    Author : Henrik Simán; Internmedicin - epidemiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gastroenterologi; Gastro-enterology; Western blot; CagA; Helicobacter pylori; Gastric adenocarcinoma; Oesophageal carcinoma;

    Abstract : Helicobacter pylori is one of the most common infections in man. The infection is often acquired during childhood and usually results in a chronic life-long inflammation in the gastric mucosa. The aim of our studies was to investigate the association between H. pylori seropositivity and the development of gastric and oesophageal carcinomas. READ MORE
