  1. 1. Some Cases of Kudla’s Modularity Conjecture for Unitary Shimura Varieties

    Author : Jiacheng Xia; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; special cycles; Eisenstein series; spherical designs; central L-values; unitary Shimura varieties; Jacobi forms; rational points; generating functions; the circle method; Kudla s modularity conjecture; theta series; Rankin--Selberg method;

    Abstract : A common theme of the thesis is the interplay of symmetry and rigidity, which is a general phenomenon in mathematics. Symmetry is a notion related to the degree to which an object remains unchanged under transformations, and rigidity is a notion that in terms of physics can be thought of as a lack of freedom, which leads to stronger properties of an object than we normally expect. 2. 2. Computational dynamics – real and complex

    Author : Anna Belova; Warwick Tucker; Denis Gaidashev; Àlex Haro Provinciale; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Continued fractions; Generating functions; Rotation numbers; Rigorous computations; Interval analysis; Interval arithmetic; Multipliers; Quadratic map; Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : The PhD thesis considers four topics in dynamical systems and is based on one paper and three manuscripts.In Paper I we apply methods of interval analysis in order to compute the rigorous enclosure of rotation number. READ MORE

  3. 3. Polynomial Sequences Generated by Linear Recurrences : Location and Reality of Zeros

    Author : Innocent Ndikubwayo; Boris Shapiro; Rikard Bögvad; Tamás Forgacs; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; real-rooted polynomials; generating functions; discriminants; Tran s conjecture; Toeplitz matrices; Mathematics; matematik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we study the problem of location of the zeros of individual polynomials in sequences of polynomials generated by linear recurrence relations.In paper I, we establish the necessary and sufficient conditions that guarantee hyperbolicity of all the polynomials generated by a three-term recurrence of length 2, whose coefficients are arbitrary real polynomials. 4. 4. Deg/HtrA proteases of the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 : from biochemical characterization to their physiological functions

    Author : Xuân Tâm Lâm; Christiane Funk; Jörg Nickelsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Deg; HtrA; protease; chaperone; Synechocystis sp. PCC 6903; biochemical characterization; physiological function; proteomics; structure;

    Abstract : The family of Deg/HtrA proteases is present in a wide range of organisms from bacteria, archaea to eukaryota. These ATP-independent serine endopeptidases play key roles in the cellular protein quality control. The cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. READ MORE

  5. 5. Functions of Transcriptional Co-regulators in Drosophila development

    Author : Tobias Lilja; Mattias Mannervik; Ze'ev Paroush; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Transcription; Co-regulator; Development; Drosophila; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental Biology; miljömedicinsk utvecklingsbiologi;

    Abstract : During Drosophila development, regulation of gene expression through interplay between transcriptional activators and repressors is generating complex patterns of gene expression that leads to cell differentiation. For proper control of transcription, transcription factors bind to DNA at control regions, so called Cis Regulatory Modules (CRM). READ MORE
