  1. 1. Changes in writing processes caused by post-stroke aphasia or low-grade glioma

    Author : Charlotte Johansson-Malmeling; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; aphasia; writing; writing process; spelling; keystroke logging; low-grade glioma;

    Abstract : Background: Writing is a cognitively and linguistically complex task, therefore sensitive to impairment caused by the presence and surgical removal of low-grade glioma or presence of post-stroke aphasia. Purposes: The overall aim of the thesis was to investigate the changes in writing processes, text characteristics and spelling caused by post-stroke aphasia or low-grade glioma. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ventricular Depolarization in Ischemic Heart Disease.Value of Electrocardiography in Assessment of Severity and Extent of Acute Myocardial Ischemia

    Author : Michael Ringborn; Kardiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute myocardial ischemia; Acute myocardial infarction; Severity of ischemia; QRS changes; HF-QRS; QRS slopes; Depolarization changes; Myocardium at risk; Final infarct size; SPECT.;

    Abstract : Background In patients with symptoms compatible with acute myocardial infarction (MI), early triage by ECG in the pre-hospital phase by ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) criteria is important for direct transport of these patients to a regional center for primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI). The time from first medical contact to pPCI should, due to present guidelines, be no longer than two hours. READ MORE

  3. 3. Operator Interaction and Optimization in Control Systems

    Author : Johan Åkesson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Grade Changes; JGrafchart; Dynamic Optimization; Operator support; Model Predictive Control; Integral Action;

    Abstract : The two themes of this thesis are operator interaction and optimization, primarily with application to complex plants in the process industry. Four important aspects that should be considered in the control system design for such plants are identified; safety, performance, operator interaction and operator acceptance. READ MORE

  4. 4. Optimization of Low-Level Controllers and High-Level Polymer Grade Changes

    Author : Per-Ola Larsson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; process control; PID control; robustness; noise sensitivity; dynamic optimization; polymerization; Modelica;

    Abstract : Two design problems at different levels in the control hierarchy are considered; optimization of robust low-level controllers with constrained control signal activity and optimization of economical high-level polyethylene grade changes. As for the first design problem, a constraint on control signal activity due to measurement noise is presented and used when optimizing and comparing PI/PID controllers with measurement filters of different orders. 5. 5. Structural changes during cellulose composite processing

    Author : Helena Halonen; Monica Ek; Tommy Iversen; Derek D. Gray; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CP MAS 13C NMR; cellulose; fibril aggregation; biocomposite; compression moulding; supramolecular structure;

    Abstract : Two approaches for creating a new all-cellulose composite material have been studied: the biosynthesis of compartmentalised bacterial cellulose fibril aggregates and the compression moulding of commercial chemical wood pulps processed with only water. The objective was to study the structural changes during processing and the complexity of relating the mechanical properties of the final biocomposites to the nanoscale structure was highlighted.
