  1. 1. Histone H1 : Subtypes and phosphorylation in cell life and death

    Author : Anna Gréen; Ingemar Rundquist; Peter Söderkvist; Rolf Ohlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Abstract : The genetic information of a human diploid cell is contained within approximately 2 metres of linear DNA. The DNA molecules are compacted and organized in various ways to fit inside the cell nucleus. Various kinds of histones are involved in this compaction. One of these histones, histone H1 is the topic of the present thesis. READ MORE

  2. 2. Weighted Bergman kernels and biharmonic Green functions

    Author : Stefan Jakobsson; Matematikcentrum; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; singularity resolution of Bergman kernels; Hadamard s variational formula; weighted Bergman kernel; weighted biharmonic Green function; Friedrichs operator; Plant biochemistry; Växtbiokemi;

    Abstract : The main theme of this thesis is the connection between weighted biharmonic Green functions and weighted Bergman kernels. In the first paper, which is a joint work with H. Hedenmalm and S. Shimorin, we prove that weighted biharmonic Green functions are positive for weights which satisfy a mean-value condition and whose logarithms are subharmonic. READ MORE

  3. 3. Hydrological modelling of green urban drainage systems : Advancing the understanding and management of uncertainties in data, model structure and objective functions

    Author : Ico Broekhuizen; Maria Viklander; Günther Leonhardt; Jörg Rieckermann; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering; Centre - Centre for Stormwater Management DRIZZLE ; Centrumbildning - Centrum för dagvattenhantering DRIZZLE ;

    Abstract : The use of green urban drainage systems such as green roofs, swales and pervious areas has in recent years become a popular option to reduce flood risk and water quality problems in a more sustainable way than with traditional pipe-based drainage systems. Computer models are valuable tools for the management of such systems. READ MORE

  4. 4. Transient waves in nonstationary media : with applications to lightning and nonlinear media

    Author : Ingegerd Åberg; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; lightning; Klein-Gordon; nonlinear; characteristics; wave splitting; imbedding; sources; propagators; Green functions; direct and inverse scattering; Nonstationary; transient; high-frequency switching; Kerr.; Technological sciences; Teknik;

    Abstract : Propagation of transient waves in nonstationary, inhomogeneous, dispersive, stratified media is considered. Waves originating from sources exterior to the scatterer as well as from internal sources are treated. Algorithms are developed and illustrated by computations of wave phenomena in stationary, nonstationary and weakly nonlinear media. READ MORE

  5. 5. Spectroscopic data and multivariate analysis : tools to study genetic perturbations in poplar trees

    Author : Susanne Wiklund; Ulf Edlund; Olav Kvalheim; Umeå universitet; []

    Abstract : In our society in the 21st century one of the greatest challenges is to provide raw materials to the industry in a sustainable way. This requires increased use of renewable raw materials such as wood. Wood is widely used in pulp, paper and textile industries and ongoing research efforts aim to extend the use of wood in e.g. READ MORE
