  1. 1. Breast cancer : Multifocality, heterogeneity, and related genetic signatures

    Author : Gyula Pekar; Dumanski Jan; Sapino Anna; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : breast; breast cancer multifocality; molecular phenotypes; intertumoral heterogeneity; biobanking; gene copy number aberrations;

    Abstract : Breast carcinoma often exhibits a complex subgross morphology and may occupy a large volume of the breast tissue and show unifocal, multifocal or diffuse growth patterns. Expression of estrogen- and progesterone receptors, HER2 overexpression, tumor grade, and proliferative activity allows us to classify breast carcinoma into molecular subgroups (Luminal A, Luminal B, HER2-type, triple negative, and basal-like). 2. 2. RNA Sequencing for Molecular Diagnostics in Breast Cancer

    Author : Christian Brueffer; Translational Oncogenomics; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cancer; Breast Cancer; RNA sequencing; Gene Expression; Mutation; Biomarker; SCAN-B; Diagnostics; Precision Medicine;

    Abstract : Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women and, in Sweden, is the most deadly second only to lung cancer. While treatment and diagnostic options have improved in the past decades and short- to mid-term survival is good, long-term survival is much poorer. READ MORE

  3. 3. Biological signature of HER2-positive breast cancer

    Author : Breezy Malakkaran Lindqvist; Sten Wingren; Torbjörn Nilsson; Ingrid Hedenfalk; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; HER2 breast cancer; SLC25A43; CpG island; DNA methylation; Homeobox genes; FOXO3a; FOXG1; Biomedicin; Biomedicine;

    Abstract : Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) overexpressing breast cancers (HER2+ breast cancer) are associated with an aggressive disease course. This thesis is focused on improving the understanding of the biological signature of HER2+ breast cancer. READ MORE

  4. 4. Clinical significance of immunohistochemistry in breast cancer diagnostics

    Author : Slavica Janeva; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; breast cancer biomarkers; immunohistochemistry; surrogate subtype; RT- qPCR; multifocal breast cancer; lymph node metastasis; triple-negative breast cancer; older women;

    Abstract : For patients with breast cancer, modern patient-tailored treatment depends on tumor- specific characteristics, i.e., estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), human epidermal growth factor 2 (HER2), and the proliferation marker Ki67. READ MORE

  5. 5. HER2-receptor quantification in breast cancer patients by imaging with ABY-025 Affibody and PET

    Author : Ali Alhuseinalkhudhur; Henrik Lindman; Jens Sörensen; Mark Lubberink; Irina Velikyan; Rimma Axelsson; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women worldwide. Human epidermal growth factor receptor type 2 (HER2) is overexpressed in up to 20% of breast cancer cases and is considered an important prognostic factor and a therapeutic target. READ MORE
