  1. 1. Osteoporosis, balance and nutrition in elderly women in primary care

    Author : Hans Lundin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Objective: Some people get skeletal fractures as a result of a trauma which wouldn’t cause a fracture in a healthy individual. These fractures are sometimes referred to as “fragility fractures”. Common sites for fragility fractures are the spine, hip, upper arm, shoulder, distal forearm and pelvis. READ MORE

  2. 2. Flywheel in an all-electric propulsion system

    Author : Johan Lundin; Hans Bernhoff; P-O Västeräng; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Flywheel; electric vehicle; hybrid vehicle; power management; energy storage;

    Abstract : Energy storage is a crucial condition for both transportation purposes and for the use of electricity. Flywheels can be used as actual energy storage but also as power handling device. Their high power capacity compared to other means of storing electric energy makes them very convenient for smoothing power transients. READ MORE

  3. 3. Kinetic Energy Storage and Magnetic Bearings : for Vehicular Applications

    Author : Johan Abrahamsson; Hans Bernhoff; Urban Lundin; Richard Magdalena Stephan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; flywheel; magnetic bearing; energy storage; electric vehicle; Engineering Science with specialization in Science of Electricity; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektricitetslära;

    Abstract : One of the main challenges in order to make electric cars competitive with gas-powered cars is in the improvement of the electric power system. Although many of the energy sources currently used in electric vehicles have sufficientlyhigh specific energy, their applicability is limited due to low specific power. READ MORE

  4. 4. Long-Term Posttraumatic Stress in Survivors from Disasters and Major Accidents

    Author : Filip Arnberg; Tom Lundin; Christina Hultman; Per-Olof Michel; Hans Peter Søndergaard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Posttraumatic stress disorder; Anxiety disorders; Transportation disasters; Motor vehicle accidents; Survivors; Children; Longitudinal studies; Posttraumatisk stresstörning; PTSD; ångeststörningar; katastrofer; transportolyckor; trafikolyckor; överlevande; barn; longitudinella studier; Psychiatry; Psykiatri;

    Abstract : Disasters and major accidents are a significant cause of distress worldwide. High levels of posttraumatic stress can become chronic after severe and prolonged psychological trauma, raising concerns about the extent of adverse long-term consequences after single events. READ MORE

  5. 5. Titrating Open Lung PEEP in Acute Lung Injury : A clinical method based on changes in dynamic compliance

    Author : Fernando Suarez Sipmann; Göran Hedenstierna; Hans Hedenström; Stefan Lundin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; PEEP; open lung; recruitment; dead space; electrical impedance tomography; ARDS.; Medicine; Medicin;

    Abstract : The recognition that supportive mechanical ventilation can also damage the lung, the so called ventilation induced lung injury (VILI), has revived the more than 40 year long debate on the optimal level of PEEP to be used. It is established that the prevention of VILI improves patient outcome and that PEEP exerts protective effects by preventing unstable diseased alveoli from collapsing. READ MORE
