  1. 16. Optical Diagnostics for Engine Efficiency in Gasoline Compression Ignition

    Author : Miao Zhang; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PPC; Optical engine; Engine Eciency; Multiple-injection strategies; Thermodynamic analysis;

    Abstract : The internal combustion engine has played a significant role in a vast number of applications from small cars to giant tankers, setting people free from geographical barriers and heavy labor. However, it has also generated many tons of harmful emissions and CO2that damage to humans and the environment. READ MORE

  2. 17. Synthesis of Transition Metal Aluminides from Elemental Powder Mixtures

    Author : Hossein Sina; Materialteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aluminides; Intermetallics; Powder Metallurgy; Reactive Sintering; Combustion Synthesis; Thermal Analysis; DSC; Onset temperature; Phase evolution; SEM; EDS; XRD;

    Abstract : Structural components such as those used in gas turbines for energy conversion applications, are subjected to high loads at elevated temperatures. In order to ensure that the components survive under these conditions for a sufficiently long time, it is imperative to select materials with good high temperature properties like strength and corrosion resistance. 3. 18. Evaluation and Mitigation of Industrial Fire Hazards

    Author : Petra Andersson; Avdelningen för Brandteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknik; Technological sciences; Effect of fires; Accidental release; Water mist; Halon replacement; Industrial Fire Hazards; Human burns; Smoke detektion;

    Abstract : A tool suitable for conducting industrial fire and explosion hazard analysis is presented, together with an identification of weak links in the hazard evaluation chain. For some of the weak links additional research has been carried out. READ MORE

  4. 19. CFD-based Analysis of Combustion Processes in a Free-Piston Diesel Engine

    Author : Miriam Bergman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; chemical kinetics; Diesel; homogeneous charge compression ignition HCCI ; free-piston; equivalence ratio vs. temperature maps; computational fluid dynamics CFD ; surrogate fuel;

    Abstract : The Free Piston Engine (FPE) which is capable of operating in a variable compression ratio mode, allows flexible auto-ignition control on a cycle-to-cycle basis without any hardware modifications. In this study combustion processes in an FPE were examined using the KIVA-3V CFD code with detailed chemical kinetics (305 reactions among 70 species) of a Diesel surrogate fuel incorporated. 5. 20. Designing grinding tools to control and understand fibre release in groundwood pulping

    Author : Magnus Heldin; Urban Wiklund; Birgitta Engberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Groundwood pulping; Grinding mechanisms; Diamond grinding tool; Energy efficiency; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot tribomaterial; Engineering Science with specialization in Tribo Materials;

    Abstract : Mechanical pulping is a very energy demanding process in which only a fraction of the energy is used for the actual separation of wood fibres. The rest of the energy is lost, partly in damaging already separated fibres and partly as heat during viscoelastic deformation of the wood. READ MORE
