  1. 1. European ecosystems on a changing planet : Integrating climate change and land-use intensity data

    Author : Jan Hendrik Blanke; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LPJ-GUESS; land-use intensity; climate change; carbon; nitrogen; ecosystem functions; trade-offs; vegetation;

    Abstract : Dynamic global vegetation models are mathematical models that provide a bottom-up description of plant communities. They explicitly model physiological and population-level processes such as growth, photosynthesis, carbon allocation, regeneration and mortality. READ MORE

  2. 2. On the Role of Osteoprotegerin/RANK/RANKL System in the Interaction between Prostate Cancer and Bone

    Author : Hendrik Penno; Östen Ljunggren; Olof Nilsson; Andreas Kindmark; Pernilla Lundberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; metastases; bone; prostate cancer; osteoprotegerin; RANKL; osteoporosis; genetics; polymorphisms; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi;

    Abstract : Metastases to bone are observed in around 80% of prostate cancer patients and represent the most critical complication of advanced prostate cancer. Unlike other solid tumors that are associated with osteolytic bone metastases, prostate cancer bone metastases stimulate osteoblastic activity with sclerosis in the bone lesions as a consequence. 3. 3. Green Urban Drainage Infrastructure : Hydrology and Modelling of Grass Swales

    Author : Hendrik Rujner; Maria Viklander; Günther Leonhardt; Jiri Marsalek; Barraud Sylvie; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering; Centrumbildning - Centrum för dagvattenhantering DRIZZLE ; Centre - Centre for Stormwater Management DRIZZLE ;

    Abstract : The management of urban runoff has evolved along with the advancement of understanding of runoff environmental impacts. Besides the impacts on water quality in the receiving waters, the impacts on the urban hydrologic regime include reduced infiltration by the sealing of pervious land, reduced evapotranspiration by removal of vegetation, and the resulting increase of stormwater runoff peaks and volumes causing flooding, and ultimately degradation of receiving waters. 4. 4. Improved Bridge Evaluation

    Author : Hendrik Schlune; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; model updating; structural identification; Bridge evaluation; concrete structures; finite element analysis; finite element method; load cases;

    Abstract : Accurate structural models are required for optimal management of existing bridges and economical new ones. However, unavoidable modelling uncertainties and difficulty in modelling the non-linear response of concrete bridges can lead to structural models which do not fulfil this requirement. READ MORE

  5. 5. Safety Evaluation of Concrete Structures with Nonlinear Analysis

    Author : Hendrik Schlune; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; concrete; reliability; nonlinear analysis; modelling uncertainty; model updating; concrete structures; safety format; structural identification;

    Abstract : Concrete is the most widely used construction material in the world. To obtain effective new constructions and to use existing concrete structures in an optimal way, accurate structural models are needed. READ MORE
