  1. 1. Local visual feature based localisation and mapping by mobile robots

    Author : Henrik Andreasson; Achim Lilienthal; Jim Little; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mobile robotics; registration; localisation; SLAM; mapping; omnidirectional vision; 3D vision; appearance based; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Computer science; Datavetenskap; Computer and Systems Science; Data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the problems of registration, localisation and simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM), relying particularly on local visual features extracted from camera images. These fundamental problems in mobile robot navigation are tightly coupled. READ MORE

  2. 2. Robust large-scale mapping and localization : Combining robust sensing and introspection

    Author : Daniel Adolfsson; Henrik Andreasson; Martin Magnusson; Stephanie Lowry; Timothy Barfoot; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SLAM; Localization; Robustness; Radar;

    Abstract : The presence of autonomous systems is rapidly increasing in society and industry. To achieve successful, efficient, and safe deployment of autonomous systems, they must be navigated by means of highly robust localization systems. READ MORE

  3. 3. Automation of Navigation During the Short-loading Cycle Using Machine Vision

    Author : Carl Borngrund; Ulf Bodin; Fredrik Sandin; Jerker Delsing; Henrik Andreasson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Automation; Short-loading cycle; Construction equipment; Deep Learning; Computer Vision; Cyber-Physical Systems; Cyberfysiska system;

    Abstract : Earth-moving machines are machines used in a wide range of industries, such as the construction industry, to perform tasks related to earthworks.Currently, the vast majority of earth-moving machines are human-operated where expert operators perform these industry vital tasks. 4. 4. Towards Deep-learning-based Autonomous Navigation in the Short-loading Cycle

    Author : Carl Borngrund; Ulf Bodin; Fredrik Sandin; Henrik Andreasson; Jerker Delsing; Juha Röning; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cyberfysiska system; Cyber-Physical Systems;

    Abstract : Earth-moving machines, such as wheel loaders, are a type of heavy-duty machinery used within the construction industry to perform vital tasks, such as digging, transporting, and mining applications. One of these tasks is the short-loading cycle, where an operator manoeuvres the wheel loader to move material from a pile to the tipping body of a dump truck, through navigation, scooping, and dumping. 5. 5. Vision-based Human Detection from Mobile Machinery in Industrial Environments

    Author : Rafael Mosberger; Achim J. Lilienthal; Henrik Andreasson; Jürgen Gall; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Industrial Safety; Mobile Machinery; Human Detection; Computer Vision; Machine Learning; Infrared Vision; High-visibility Clothing; Reflective Markers; Datavetenskap; Computer Science;

    Abstract : The problem addressed in this thesis is the detection, localisation and tracking of human workers from mobile industrial machinery using a customised vision system developed at Örebro University. Coined the RefleX Vision System, its hardware configuration and computer vision algorithms were specifically designed for real-world industrial scenarios where workers are required to wear protective high-visibility garments with retro-reflective markers.
